The Golden State Warriors are struggling to maintain a winning streak in recent times. After 23 games, the modern-day dynasty is on the back foot. The Dubs are 10-13. Moreover, they are the 11th seed in the Western Conference. However, they had plans to dominate the league from the start of the season. But it is looking like that plan failed miserably. On the other hand, Klay Thompson has not been in great form either. Injuries really let him down in the last few seasons.
Clearly, Klay is not at his old prime. But Thompson, along with Green and Curry, helped the Warriors win four titles in the last eight years. Hence, he still is a pretty valuable player to the Golden State franchise. But when the Dubs needed him the most this regular season, in the absence of Steph Curry and Draymond Green, he didn’t deliver. However, the Warriors lately offered the five-time All-Star a two-year extension worth $48 million.
How Much Is Klay Thompson Really Worth To The Warriors?
As per Shams Charania, an NBA Insider, the four-time champion shooting guard’s future has been in question for a while. But as per Charania, the Warriors had offered a deal to Klay Thompson for a two-year range worth 48 million dollars prior to the current regular season. However, the NBA insider added that now no such deal is available. For two full seasons, the shooting guard was away from the game due to his Achilles and knee injury before the 2021-22 season.

Later, when he returned, the Warriors won their fourth title in eight years. However, he could never stay away from severe injuries. People kept questioning if the star guard could keep shooting at an NBA level. Now, he is 33 years old. In the current season, Thompson has reached the lowest mark of average points per game after the first 22 games since his rookie season. Lately, Thompson is hitting all the career-lowest marks in the last ten years. On the other hand, the 35-year-old Steph Curry is carrying the team on his shoulders.
Steph Curry Is Fighting A Lone Battle As It Seems
Only Stephen Curry is not enough to help the GSW to make the postseason. They need the other star players to contribute more than what they have done so far this season. For instance, Draymond Green had been a big disappointment this regular season. Albeit, the Warriors started the current regular season on a winning note, they somehow lost the momentum and drifted apart. Moreover, the five-game suspension of Draymond Green really was a big blow to the Dub’s momentum.
Later, he returned to commit a foul at a bad time that cost the game for his team. Against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Dubs could end up winning the game if Green had not fouled while 7.2 seconds remained. Later, the game went to overtime as the Thunder scored from three free throws. In the end, the Thunder beat the GSW 138-136 in overtime.
