EXPLAINED: Has Yankees Cap Aaron Judge Ever Lost His Cool In His Career?

Aaron Judge, Yankees

Aaron Judge has been famous for his power-hitting as well as his cool and calm nature. Not many people have seen his angry side. However, in 2024, for the first time in his career, the captain of the New York Yankees got ejected in a game against the Detroit Tigers. He has never received an ejection before that Tigers game in his MLB career because he knows how to stay cool and composed. However, that does not mean that the captain of the Bronx Bombers has never seen failure. Last year was the worst he could imagine. First of all, the team finished fourth in the American League East division with an awful 82-80 record. On top of that, it was their worst season in the last 30 years.

Moreover, Aaron Judge hurt his toe really badly. Later, it turned out to be a torn ligament. He had to sit out for 35 games and almost two months. Without him, the Yankees captain had a really weak offense. In the end, the NY side had the second-worst batting average in the league. But from that disappointing season, the 2022 AL MVP has been leading the side to dominate their division at present. He has been very cool and calm throughout the process. Lately, though, one of his teammates revealed the angry side of the California Native.

When Aaron Judge Gets Really Angry?

On June 12, in an interview with Foul Territory TV, Tommy Kahnle, a bullpen arm of the Yankees, revealed that he knew the captain since 2014. Aaron Judge and Kahnle have been virtual friends for a long time and played a lot of video games. When the 2022 AL MVP was in the minor leagues before anybody knew who Aaron Judge is, he and Kahnle used to play the game called Destiny. Back in 2014, they had a common friend in the minor system of the NY side with whom they used to play this game. It was many years later when Kahnle made it to the Yankees lineup via trade, he met Aaron Judge for the first time. But he knew him playing video games together for a few years before they actually met.

Tommy Kahnle mentioned that the 2022 AL MVP remained the same guy he has ever been. However, Kahnle said he never saw Judge as angry as he was when he lost in FIFA. But the Yankees pitcher soon clarified that the California native has never been the “Controller-throwing guy.” But last month, something happened that had never happened before. Aaron Judge got ejected for the first time in his career. Ryan Blakney, the plate umpire, struck out Judge on a close call, and later, the slugger murmured a few words at the ump. Ryan didn’t waste any time before ejecting the Yankees captain. Anyway, the NY side won that game 5-3 against the Tigers.

Yankees Choose The Captain And The Ace Pitcher As Emergency Contacts

Last month, the social media handle of the Yankees played a fun session with the players, asking them who would be their “Emergency contact from the roster?” Most people said Aaron Judge, and then some more people said, Gerrit Cole. According to most of the Bronx Bombers, Judge knows the city really well so he can really help in night or day.

Anyway, Aaron said his emergency contact would be Anthony Rizzo. The Rizzo-Judge friendship blossomed ever since the first baseman joined the franchise in 2021. Back in 2022, when Judge was a free agent, Rizzo hinted at separation with him, saying, “Intolerable.”
