The New York Yankees became the first team in MLB this season to register 50 wins as they secured an 8-1 win against the Boston Red Sox in Fenway Park. For a team that got knocked out of the postseason race in 2023 due to an 82-80 record, the Bombers have made a phenomenal comeback.

That being said, it’s just June, and the New York Yankees have to retain the form until October to ensure a deep postseason finish. However, WFAN radio host Sal Licata, who is usually very critical of the Bombers’ performance, has made a startling prediction on the franchise’s postseason journey.

WFAN radio host Sal Licata has predicted that the New York Yankees will play the World Series this year. With a 50-22 record, the Bronx Bombers are leading AL-East. While October is still miles away, Licata is confident that the New York-based franchise will not only qualify for the postseason but also thrive for the ultimate championship title. Additionally, Licata also rejected the narrative of the Yanks not being good enough in Juan Soto’s absence, as the team lost a series to the LA Dodgers at home when Soto sat on the bench due to a forearm injury scare. However, Licata believes one does not need to worry about Soto as the generational talent will be in the lineup throughout the season.

Sal Licata also claimed that if the New York Yankees face the LA Dodgers in the World Series, the men in the pinstripes are very much capable of winning the ring. And not to mention, the Bombers have the option to bolster the roster with Gerrit Cole and Jasson Dominguez’s addition. “It’s a long way away from October. But there’s no doubt to me that the Yankees are the clear best team in baseball, assuming health,” Licata said. But at the same time, the critical radio host feels that the Yanks have a lot to prove in the postseason. The fact that they haven’t won a championship since 2009 cannot be denied. Hence, this time around, the NYY team must reverse the narrative to end the trophy drought. Nevertheless, Sal says the Yankees have been a machine this year, and that gives him all the reasons to be confident about the team’s successful postseason run.

The Friday night rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox belonged to outfielder Alex Verdugo as he redeemed himself against his former team to go 3-for-5, including a two-run home run for the Yanks in an 8-1 staggering win at Fenway Park.

Alex Verdugo proved why the off-season trade was the best thing happened to him as he gets to be himself in Bronx. The left handed hitter asserted after the game that the home run off the first pitch was a result of sheer adrenaline and he felt like a weight was off his chest. The three-game rivalry will resume at Fenway park on Saturday.
