The Golden State Warriors have a lot to think about and plan ahead of the next season. In the ongoing season, things obviously did not go according to their plans. As a result, the Dubs’ dream of winning five titles in ten years remains unfulfilled. Moreover, fans fear the dynasty is over. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green may have a few more seasons with the franchise. But Klay Thompson will be a free agent this offseason. Some rumors suggest the Splash Brother of Curry might want to leave the franchise.

Klay had one of the worst games of his career in the play-in stage this season. He scored zero points against the Sacramento Kings, who knocked the Warriors out of the season. Hence, there is a good possibility that the Dubs might trade Klay Thompson this offseason. And who else? Perhaps Jonathan Kuminga is a viable option for trade as well. Will the Dubs trade the breakout player of their 2023-24 season?

Questions Rising On Jonathan Kuminga’s Trade Possibility

Recently, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN mentioned that it is highly unlikely that the Warriors would trade Jonathan Kuminga. On the show The Game of 95.7 FM, Shelburne said that things will get complicated, especially because of the talks regarding his extensions. Then, the ESPN reporter pointed out to how much money the Dubs have that they want to spend on Kuminga. But Shelburne believes the Warriors would do anything to keep the breakout player. Moreover, Ramona thinks the Warriors are not even showing any interest in talking about him. On top of that, Shelburne pointed out the other key assets that the Dubs have, which they would use as trade assets. But the ESPN reporter is keeping Jonathan Kuminga out of those assets.

Shelburne said the Warriors have draft picks, Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II, and so many other options. The GSW can focus on a lot of optionality and decent deals. Moreover, Ramona Shelburne calls Chris Paul the blue chip for the seven-time champions. Paul surely have a very interesting contract for many different reasons. However, Shelburne thinks the Dubs can just keep Paul and take all the savings themselves. Nonetheless, Chris Paul is a great trade asset for several teams. Hence, Shelburne thinks JK is staying put despite a rumored feud with head coach Steve Kerr. Moreover, Kuminga had to wait till his third year with the Dubs to have a breakout season. Perhaps the Warriors think they are better off with him than without him.

Will Warriors Reunite With Kevin Durant?

There is one good possibility where the Warriors can trade Jonathan Kuminga and all the young players in the team. Recently, Zach Lowe of ESPN gave a trade scenario where the Dubs trade their breakout star as well as the young assets to reunite with Kevin Durant.

On April 29, during his podcast show The Lowe Post, the host said, “Warriors Reuniting with KD.” Perhaps most of the Dub Nation believes that for the return package that has KD, it is worth it. Trading Kuminga and other draft picks for the former Warrior might be a good possibility.
