Former AL MVP Aaron Judge was handed over the captaincy of the New York Yankees with a view of extending the glorious legacy of the franchise with most wins in MLB. However, the World Series ring that is yet to return to Bronx after 2009, is still nowhere to be found.

In his first season as Yankees captain, Aaron Judge saw his team crash out of the playoff race. The lack of championship ring has left a void in Judge’s legendary major league career. However, in an interesting take, former MLB player rated Judge amongst the greats of the game despite him having not held a title before.

Trevor Plouffe Calls Aaron Judge A Yankee Legend For His Home Run Hitting Ability

Former MLB star Trevor Plouffe recently stirred up the baseball world by ranking Aaron Judge among the all-time greats of the New York Yankees, even though Judge has yet to win a World Series ring with the team. Judge is on pace to surpass his own single-season home run record this season with an estimation of 63 long hits by the end of the year. The Yankee captain is delivering another historic and remarkable season with .333 averages, 51 home runs, 122 RBIs and 1.197 OPS across 133 games. While Judge has surpassed many former Yankee greats in separate offensive records lists, many analysts refused to rate him as a legend due to a lack of World Series trophies.

However, former MLB player Trevor Plouffe disagreed with the narrative. While speaking on the Baseball Today podcast, Trevor said Aaron Judge is already a Yankee great as he is the one to hit most home runs in a single without steroids, that too twice in two years. Plouffe further explained that winning a championship is not a one-man job. Just because his team is letting him down does not mean Judge has to be stripped of his legendary title to honour his personal accomplishments. “You can’t do it on your own, we’ve seen it time and time again with Mike Trout dude,” Trevor said. Since joining the Yankees, Judge has been one of the most dominant hitters in baseball. While the Yanks haven’t been able to capture that elusive championship, his personal achievements have already left an indelible mark on the franchise.

Giancarlo Stanton Thinks Judge Can Get To 70 Home Run Mark

With 51 home runs in 131 games, Aaron Judge is on pace to get 63 home runs by the end of the season, including the postseason. However, Giancarlo Stanton has set the bar high for the Yankees captain. Since times have changed, Stanton believes the 70 home run mark is achievable and Judge can definitely get there.

“It can be done. At the pace he’s going, he’s able to do it for sure. It’s just a matter of putting it together,” Stanton said. Meanwhile, for Aaron Judge, the championship pursuit holds the utmost value. He wants the team to stay focused on the ultimate goal and bring the trophy back home to New York.
