The 2022 Formula One championship is heading to its final stages, with Red Bull leading in both driver and constructor\’s championships. However, when the teams will return to the track next year for the 2023 championship, not everything will be the same. FIA, the governing body of Formula One, has recently decided to include some rules change in the next season. But what are the new directives? Keep reading to find out.

FIA Changes Rules Ahead Of The 2023 Formula One Season!

The FIA is putting into effect a number of regulation modifications for the 2023 Formula One season. The floor is essential to this since it must comply with various adjustments starting next year. Other technological and athletic adjustments that the regulating body considers essential will also be made. In order to review rule modifications and explanations for the next season, the FIA World Motor Sport Council convened today in London and made the announcements.

The primary modifications for the 2023 Formula One season focus on the vehicle floors and seek to end porpoising permanently. The FIA said that safety was the primary motivator for these adjustments. However, some teams disputed that claim. Since then, the groups have agreed, and the World Motor Sports Council has accepted the regulation revisions.

From 2023, Formula One cars will have bigger mirrors and many other safety improvements to help with blind spots and improve visibility. Earlier this year, several teams experimented with using larger mirrors during Friday Practice sessions. The mirrors\’ size was enlarged in order to improve driver sight and braking circuit clarity.

Additional tests to measure vertical deflection are being implemented along with the fifteen-millimeter increase. A five-millimeter maximum deviation in both directions will be allowed by 2023. Currently, the maximum deflection that is allowed is eight millimeters for an upward load and twelve millimeters for a downward load.

The method used by the FIA to decide grid places following numerous penalties will also change in the meanwhile. If a driver accumulates 15 grid penalties, Article 28.3 of the sports regulations no longer requires that they start from the rear. The rule now specifies whether a driver has racked up more than 15 total grid place fines or who received a fine for lining up last on the grid. They will start last among all drivers in his classification.

Additionally, there will be a modest decrease in the minimum weight of the Formula One cars. In 2023, the minimum weight will be 796 kilos instead of the previous year\’s 798 kg. The minimum weight requirement for the 2022 Formula One season was increased because most teams had trouble getting the cars to weigh, which led to this adjustment.

A total of six sprint weekends will be held in 2023, not just three. For the current F1 season, this was also the FIA\’s original plan. However, the governing body and the teams were unable to agree. There will be twice as many sprint events in 2023 as in 2022.
