The Yankees apparently have a lot of expectations from DJ LeMahieu. Last year the team was kicked off of the ALCS, partly because DJ was injured. Seeing their ideal player having a fractured foot, fans were dreaming of seeing him again making reps in third base. And as a matter of luck, he did. After a long period of rest, he is finally getting fine and all set to play in the 2023 season. LeMahieu is now healthy is “looks really good,” according to Dillon Lawson, who is his hitting coach.
The offseason proved to be good surgery for all his injuries. After a complete rest, the player is already making reps at third base in Tampa, as the Yankee is working out the field. His coach came out to reveal that DJ is doing really well in the weight room and also in the defense and hitting fields. He is pushing it with all the body parts, and the good thing to know is that he is really able to do it all perfectly.
LeMahieu Doing Swings in 2023 That He Failed To Do in 2022
Looking at the injuries he got in 2022, it was really difficult to imagine him playing again. But look at this guy. He is not only practicing well, but he is proving that he never got injured. Yankees always expected much from LeMahieu, and he always met their expectations, but last year, just after the second half of the season, he mostly did nothing, which is obviously because of the fracture. Doing surgery on his foot was found to be dangerous initially. And so it was getting hard to see him again on the same foot running the same. But fortunately, he is totally fine, as admitted by Lawson.
The one thing that everyone likes about DJ is the bat speed. Despite the severe injury, he did not lose his quality. Dawson, who saw him practicing, has revealed that DJ still has the same bat speed. Plus, he has been squaring the ball up and making contact for a decade now. These are the things that will never get separated from LeMahieu. Instead of getting lower expectations, fans are fully allowed to expect more from him. This is because, this time, he has been found even stronger. In 2022 he was not able to take his swing. But this year, he is doing it perfectly.
According to the coach, LeMahieu used to face difficulty in coming off his back and could not really rotate into the ball due to the injury he had. But “Now he is able to do everything that he is expected to do.” DJ LeMahieu is back like never before.
