Chris Woakes Hopeful Of Chasing A Record Total On Day 5 Against India

England\’s all-rounder Chris Woakes recently released a statement in which he stated that he is hopeful that England will chase the record total of the Day 5 of their match against India. He thinks that their team can chase the record target of 368 runs in one day and can win the test match against India.

Woakes did admit that it would be pretty tough for them to chase a total of 291 runs in the last day. But he is pretty confident about the batting lineup of England and has faith that they can chase this total as the pitch at The Oval is still good for the batsmen.

The test cricked is 141 years old. Throughout these years, England chased the target of more than 350 runs only twice. The last time it happened in the Ashes 2019 against Australia was when Ben Stokes scored 135 runs and was not out till the end of his innings. With the help of his brilliant performance, England managed to chase the record total of 362 runs.

Now England is looking forward to repeating this miracle again, and this time, Joe Root will be their key player. Joe Root\’s contribution will matter the most on the last day of the third test match against India.

Chris Woakes Statement

On Sunday, Woakes provided a statement to PTI in which he said that the initial days were on fast forward, but the last two days of this test came out as really hard work. By the end of the fourth day, England didn\’t lose any wicket, and for this, Chris Woakes appreciated the English openers for standing still even after spending so much time on the field.

Chris Wokes later added that making a total of 291 on the last day might be tough, but the team of England keeps reminding themselves that the pitch will be good for batting. According to Woakes, if they bat all the way down, then they will win this match by chasing a record total. The entire team believes that they can go on the field to get the win, and they know that it will require a lot of hard work.

It is certain that the final day of the third test match between India and England will be a nail-biting one as the tides of this match can shift on either side, and there is a possibility of a draw as well.
