Jazz Chisholm Jr transitioned his base from Miami to the Bronx as the New York Yankees acquired him via a trade at the August 1 deadline. Despite initial concerns over his injury history and personality issues, Jazz thrived under the New York City spotlight to witness an offensive resurgence.

However, Jazz Chisholm Jr was sidelined for 10-days due to an elbow UCL injury. While the recovery was quick, Chisholm is struggling defensively at third base, an area relatively unknown to him. Meanwhile, amidst piling errors, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone backed the third baseman to improve his way through postseason.

Jazz Chisholm Commits Five Errors In Four Games At Third Base

Jazz Chisholm, known for his dynamic style and electric play on the field, has been facing growing pains at third base for the New York Yankees. Traditionally a middle infielder and primarily a second baseman, Chisholm’s transition to the hot corner has been met with mixed results. His first 15 starts were relatively positive as Chisholm felt a natural fit at third base. However, following the UCL injury return, the infielder is struggling to adjust. In the past four games, Jazz committed as many as five defensive errors. His fielding percentage at third base has been lower than expected, reflecting the challenges he faces in adapting to the position. However, despite the miscues, manager Aaron Boone deemed the struggles a learning curve.

“Still learning. These plays will be really good learning things for him moving forward. It’s part of the growing pains of it a little bit,” Boone said. Aaron Boone, who played third base during his major league career, explained that third base is a difficult position as it’s on the left side of the diamond. It’s relatively harder to read the play at first glance. And if one misses the initial judgement of the ball trajectory, errors are bound to happen. Regardless, Boone is satisfied with Jazz Chisholm’s overall growth at third base. He is counting on the experience, which will, in turn, help Jazz adjust to the position much better before the New York Yankees enter the postseason in October. Until then, a few errors from Jazz will be sidelined as he has been contributing with the bat. In 20 games as a Yankee, Chisholm has nine home runs to his name.

Anthony Rizzo’s Yankees Return Imminent After Successful Rehab Assignment

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo, struggling from an arm fracture, recently advanced in his rehab assignment by playing first base earlier than expected. After a couple of games as DH, Rizzo played at first base for three innings and belted a home run with a walk.

Meanwhile, Anthony Rizzo is still unsure of his return timeline but expects Wednesday’s rehab game to be his last. “I’m seeing the ball really well, and that’s what it’s all about, just getting your timing down,” Rizzo said. Notably, Rizzo will be pencilled directly at the first base upon return, as DJ LeMahieu’s form remains far from the ideal.
