CHECKOUT: Yankees Head To Tampa With Questions Marks Looming Over Pitching Staff!

Gerrit Cole, Clarke Schmidt, Carlos Rodon

The New York Yankees had an extra four weeks of time to prepare a foolproof plan for this year’s free agency. Yet, the team could come up with only two significant moves, Juan Soto and Marcus Stroman. While Soto’s addition single-handedly revolved around the offensive woes, is Stroman really the answer to the rotational woes?

Marcus Stroman, despite having an ugly past with Brian Cashman, signed a two-year deal with the New York Yankees this off-season. Clarke Schmidt will remain the fifth starter with no immediate backup whatsoever. Amid this, the team seems to be heading to Florida for spring training with underlying questions on starting rotation.

Yankees Equipment Trucks Headed To Tampa Days Ahead Of Spring Training

The New York Yankees have summoned pitchers and catchers on Valentine’s Day to report for spring training. The rest of the squad will report later in the week. Meanwhile, ahead of the scheduled session, several Yankee trucks loaded with baseball equipment left for Florida earlier this week. Those equipment were shipped to the Yanks training facility in Tampa for spring training purposes. Notably, a majority of the roster is already present in Tampa for training drills and early preparations. Having said that, heading into spring training, the Bronx Bombers will be staring at visible holes in the depth of the starting rotation. The current rotation consists of Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes, Marcus Stroman, and Clarke Schmidt.

The next person in line is prospect Will Warren, who is yet to pitch in the major league. While Aaron Boone says the front office remains active in search of reinforcement, an imminent move seems unlikely. They do not want to pay $270 million to Blake Snell. And the Baltimore Orioles sneaked Corbin Burnes under their nose from the Milwaukee Brewers. As the AL-East rivals get stronger each day, the Yanks are left with nothing but question marks. Regardless, the Yankee skipper has the utmost faith in the existing unit. “Everybody looks healthy and strong. I think it’s going to be a great year for the Yanks’ pitching staff,” said Boone at an event. Needless to say, it would require more than adequate fitness for Yankee pitchers to leave a meaningful impact on the mound. It’s high time throwers not named Gerrit Cole step up to guide the team to a successful campaign.

Corbin Burnes Trade To Orioles Leaves Aaron Boone In Dismay

The reigning AL-East champions just got stronger, and its recent acquisition has sent waves of concerns amongst the Yankees. Baltimore Orioles made a shocking trade with Milwaukee Brewers to land former CY Young pitcher Corbin Burnes. The move was unexpected as the Brewers didn’t seem interested in parting ways with Burnes this off-season.

However, the Orioles, under new ownership, managed to turn things around in their favor. Meanwhile, Yankees skipper Aaron Boone is left concerned as he admitted that Burnes’ addition to the Orioles is a matter of concern for them. He is a great pitcher capable of creating a meaningful impact on any team’s winning odds. “He pitched really well in the Bronx against us. So hopefully, we can find our way against him a little bit, too,” Boone said.
