On September 1, the New York Yankees announced a series of roster moves as MLB allowed roster to expand from 26 to 28 members. Jasson Dominguez, theMartian, was surprisingly snubbed for outfielder Duke Ellis which led to massive outrage amongst Yankee fans on the internet.

However, manager Aaron Boone explained that Jasson Dominguez remains in conversation. That being said, in a much-anticipated shake up, first baseman Anthony Rizzo was activated from IL after a 2.5 months long layoff due to arm fracture injury and Rizzo immediately left a profound impact in New York Yankees lowly 14-7 loss to St.Louis Cardinals.

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo made an impactful return to the lineup after a 2.5-month layoff due to an arm fracture. In his first game back, Rizzo wasted no time in proving his readiness. The infielder was activated on Sunday and was pencilled at first base. Rizzo’s injury, which sidelined him for several weeks, had raised concerns about his form and fitness upon his return. However, he quickly dispelled any doubts. Facing the Cardinals, Rizzo stepped up to the plate and delivered a crucial RBI hit, driving in a run to add to the team’s lead. The hit not only marked his first since the injury but also gave the team a much-needed boost to its offensive lineup.

Anthony Rizzo spent 2.5 months in rehab, and it naturally took a toll on his mental resilience. However, as a veteran, the infielder understands that he just needs to be himself and take one-day at-bat at a time. As Rizzo reaped the rewards of his patience, he revealed that he felt confident and fit in the batter’s box. “Excited to be back and excited to help this team,” Rizzo said. Notably, his numbers before the injury weren’t ideal, as he was hitting .223 on average and a .630 OPS. However, Rizzo’s experience in his approach at the plate and his positioning in the field reflects on his readiness. “I still think it’s in there for him to be productive. I feel like he’s walking in here with some confidence,” Boone said. Notably, top prospect Ben Rice was optioned back to the minor league as a corresponding move to accommodate Anthony Rizzo on the active roster.

The New York Yankees fans woke up disappointed on Sunday morning as Jasson Dominguez’s name was missing in the team’s series of roster moves. The front office called up Duke Ellis and retained Dominguez in the minor league. After widespread backlash, manager Aaron Boone justified the team’s decision by saying that Jasson will get his due.

“When he comes up here you’re gonna want to play him everyday,” Aaron Boone said. The skipper added that the prospect was in conversation. But its also true that he missed a lot of playing time due to multiple injuries. Hence, for now, the Yanks wants Dominguez to continue ramp up before eventually transitioning into majors.
