The Golden State Warriors started the ongoing season with a win. But then they fell apart. It was the back-to-back suspensions of Draymond Green that really hurt the team’s progress this season. Due to Green’s absence, the Dubs became really weak at their defense. Moreover, Klay Thompson did not have a great start to the season with his shooting percentage. He had been pretty inconsistent. However, it was only Stephen Curry who was carrying the team on his shoulders. The Dub Dynasty was looking like it was on the brink of collapse. It seemed like the dream to win their fifth title in ten years would not happen.

However, Stephen Curry had the help of some young Warriors, like Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski. Later, when Draymond Green returned to the lineup, the defense got stronger, and things started changing gradually for the Dubs. Lately, the Warriors just finished a five-game road trip. They ended the trip with a 4-1 record. From the 12th seed, the Warriors climbed to the 11th spot after the road trip. Now, the next four games before the All-Star break will be even more vital for Steve Kerr’s side. It might determine their place in the playoffs.

How Important The Next Few Games Are For The Warriors?

After the Dubs thrashed the Pacers 131-109, Steve Kerr told the reporters that they started the season well, and then things went haywire, while they were at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. But after the recent road trip, Kerr believes it has been the best version of them so far. Like Stephen Curry said earlier, the Dubs coach noted everybody from the starting lineup as well as the guys on the bench have been contributing really well. Steve Kerr told the reporters that these guys are showing great energy, effort, and execution. Moreover, the Warriors coach mentioned that the current run has been great, and they just need to “Carry it forward.” There are just four games remaining before the All-Star break.

That break will happen from February 16 to February 21. On Saturday, the Warriors will face the Phoenix Suns at home. Later, the Dubs will have an away game against the Utah Jazz on Monday. On Wednesday, the Warriors will have another home game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Then, they will go to Utah once again for another game. The target is to get to .500 before entering the break. For that, the Dubs must win at least three of those four games. It will be a difficult task to do because all those three teams are above them in the Western Conference Standings. But if they finish with three wins in those four games, they will stand at 27-26. Then, that would lift the Warriors above the playoff line.

Stephen Curry Is Not Thinking About The Standings At Present

If the Warriors can legitimize their resurgence, then they can get back on track to the playoffs. That’s where they want to be. And that’s what Stephen Curry has been looking forward to. After the game against the Pacers, the three-point King mentioned that he didn’t know what the standings look like.

And nor was he interested to know. Curry mentioned they have a long way to go. Nobody is looking too far ahead, said Steph Curry. But the present goal is to enter the All-Star break with a lot of momentum. If they are able to achieve their current goal, then Steph will be happy with where they are.
