The New York Yankees have been through a lot of ups and downs since last year. 2023 was a pretty forgettable season for the NY side. They finished with an awful 82-80 record. Moreover, the Bronx Bombers could not make the postseason for the first time since 2016. It was really the worst season in the last 30 years for Hal Steinbrenner’s side. They knew that they had to make significant changes in the offseason. Moreover, they did as they landed Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo, and Trent Grisham to bolster their offense. But they have been afraid of the Injured List.

Last year saw key players like Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and several others making the list for 30 or even 60 days. It has been too costly for their campaign. Hence, the team will look forward to avoiding injury scares this year. And aim as high as they possibly can. Moreover, the 2024 regular season started really well for the NY side. The month of April was great. But it was even more important to maintain the momentum next month. That’s what the Yankees did in May.

April was great for a lot of guys in the pinstripes. But it was not the case for Aaron Judge. The Yankees captain had been going through an early season slump. He took seven games to hit his first home run. But then he pretty much struggled throughout the month of April. Then came May, and something clicked for the 2022 AL MVP. He became a completely different beast. As of now, Aaron Judge has already hit 21 home runs and is leading the home run list. Now, in early June, the Yankees look like an unbeatable team. They have won the last five games. On Sunday, they won a game against the San Francisco Giants and enjoyed a clean sweep over them.

Juan Soto had a great game on Sunday with a couple of home runs. The Judge-Soto duo has been lethal in the ongoing season. Moreover, the Yankees received a lot of month of May honors lately. Aaron Judge won the American League Player of the Month award. Soto won the Player of the Week. On the other hand, Luis Gil, who has been like the breakout star this season for the Bronx Bombers, won the American League Pitcher cum Rookie of the Month awards. Never had a Yankees hurler won the AL Rookie of the Month before. Since this award had its inception in 2001 as per MLB.com.

So Many Positives To Look At For Boone’s Side

Fans are waiting to see what the Yankees (42-19) are going to do in June. Can they build on the momentum from the last two months? Juan Soto has been getting stronger and more impactful every game and every week. On the other hand, Aaron Judge got back to his groove after a slow start in April. Then, the veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu got back to the lineup.

Even the ace pitcher Gerrit Cole seems to progress well in his rehab and he will soon return to the lineup too. Moreover, Cole’s replacement so far has been Luis Gil and he has performed extraordinarily well as a rookie. Hence, there are a lot of positives for Aaron Boone to see and plan for the month of June.
