The Golden State Warriors are going through a transition stage. This offseason, they had an end of an era situation as Klay Thompson moved to the Dallas Mavericks. Hence, the era of the ‘Splash Brothers’ is officially over. This duo has been a blessing for the franchise ever since they came together in 2011. They helped the Dubs organization end the title drought since 1975. It was in 2015 when the GSW won their fourth NBA championship but the first in the 21st century. Since then, the Dubs went on to build a dynasty as they won four titles in a span of eight years.

Without the ‘Splash Bros, ‘ it is unimaginable that the Dubs could make it to seven championships in 2022. Lately, though, the era of the ‘Splash Bros’ came to an end. Now, the Golden State Warriors would like to build a team that’s capable of winning more titles. For that, they might have to trade some top players. But the team’s owner has revealed that they have no interest in trading the team’s youngsters.

Recently, on the “Hoops Adjacent” podcast, the Warriors CEO mentioned that people might assume that trading young stars might make a franchise better. But Joe Lacob told Marcus Thompson and David Aldridge of The Athletic that they generally run the “Analytical models on all of that stuff.” Hence, the owner is sure about making the deals that make the team better. He added that the team is looking at short term, immediate terms as well as the long term deals. Talking about the analytical models, he said, “But that’s a factor.” Moreover, Lacob adds that they run an incredibly complex model to see how good they can be. On top of that, the owner said it is not about what the press writes all the time. Lacob can’t care less about what people write or say on the internet blogs.

Moreover, the Warriors CEO said, “We are very aware of the fact that we can’t make a trade that makes us worse but expect to get better.” Also, Lacob told Thompson and Aldridge that the Dubs want to be as great as they possibly can. Most importantly, the Warriors owner noted that the “Caveat” is that they can’t bankrupt the team in “An unbelievably dumb way for ten years.” It can be very hard to win but the Dubs owner thinks it won’t be right to let the team’s young stars go and “Bankrupt the team’s future.” Any team can sustain injury issues even if they have the best lineup. That’s what happens generally and some other team wins.

Joe Lacob mentioned that logically, the franchise will try to do whatever the team can to win at present. He added that it is not just for Stephen Curry but also for him and the franchise. Moreover, Lacob said, “It is for everybody, especially fans, and Curry feels the same way.” About Steph being on the wrong side of 30s, Lacob mentioned that he still has a number of years remaining in the NBA.

However, the odds suggest that he is surely getting nearer to the end of his career. Lacob says that they are aware of that fact every single day. Nonetheless, the Warriors CEO said that they want to win and nobody can change his mind. Moreover, the goal will always be to assemble the best team possible and face all the difficulties that come their way in the process.
