The Golden State Warriors started becoming a powerhouse since Stephen Curry joined the franchise. He has been part of the club since 2009. Later, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson joined hands with the skinny kid from Akron, Ohio, to become one of the best trios seen in modern-day basketball. Finally, when Steve Kerr became the head coach of the Dubs, the team was ready to dominate the league. From 2015 to 2022, the Dubs powerhouse won four NBA Championships. Subsequently, the trio of Green, Curry and Thompson became franchise icons.

They converted the franchise into a modern-day dynasty. Moreover, the Dub Nation wanted the trio to win their fifth title together. However, that won’t be possible anymore as Klay Thompson left the Dubs to join the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. It was a big shock for the fans in the Bay Area as it was for the whole Dubs organization to let one of their franchise icons go. Since Thompson’s exit, fans wonder how long Steph would like to stay part of the franchise.

What Are The Warriors Planning For The Future With Stephen Curry?

Steph led the Warriors to become a modern-day dynasty. Since his NBA debut, Curry has played for only one team, and that’s the GSW. But after the failure of the 2023-2024 season, a lot of questions came up regarding the team’s future. One of them was regarding Klay Thompson’s free agency. Eventually, the veteran sharpshooter chose to leave the Dubs for a fresh start at the Mavericks. Now, the Warriors are finding it hard to decide if they want to trade Steph and Draymond Green, too, so that they can rebuild the team from scratch. Perhaps they would like to give the two four-time champions the chance to end their illustrious careers with one team. Recently, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that league sources hinted at Dub’s choice of keeping Curry until he hangs up his boots.

Moreover, the Warriors will try their best to stay competitive even at the nearing end of Curry’s career. However, Siegel believes the seven-time champions are open to having a smart long-term approach. That’s the result of why they did not trade their young prospects to land Lauri Markkanen and others. They want to keep the young core group together, which they’ve built over the years. Last season, rookie guard like Brandin Podziemski and power forward like Jonathan Kuminga made a huge impact on the team. Now, the question is how effective would these young stars be alongside Stephen Curry.

Brett Siegel mentioned that both Warriors and Stephen Curry would like to win more rings. Mike Dunleavy, the GM and his front office displayed their intention for the future with the moves they made this offseason. Moreover, the Bay Area team will stay aggressive whenever they will need to make moves.

In free agency, the GSW might not make anymore moves but their future with Steph has been the biggest talking points this summer. Curry had said in an interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears that he won’t stay part of the Dubs if they become a bottom feeder. Clearly, that proves his wish to win more rings.
