Giancarlo Stanton’s late firepower in the eighth inning steered the New York Yankees to a 3-2 victory in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Kansas City Royals. Stanton slammed a go-ahead homer to extend Yanks lead at the right time. Closer Luke Weaver also got a save to escape a jam.

Having said that, the New York Yankees had an opportunity to score some early runs when Gleyber Torres launched a drive to right field in top of the third inning. However, the umpire foul ball calls were dubious as Yankee fans on the internet exploded with criticism over ALDS’ officiating standards.

In their ALDS Game 3 against the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees experienced some controversial calls from the umpires but ultimately secured a 3-2 victory, moving within one game of advancing to the ALCS. In the top of the third inning, the Yanks had a potential scoring opportunity when Gleyber Torres hit a flare down the right-field line. Right-field umpire Ryan Blakney ruled the ball foul despite being just a few feet away. The play was reviewed, but the call stood, as the replay officials could not confirm that the ball hit the chalk line definitively. This was a missed chance for the Bombers, particularly with Oswaldo Cabrera on first, who likely would have scored.

Meanwhile, Yankees manager Aaron Boone rightly expressed frustration over the ruling. “It felt like looking up there [at the video board], that one angle gun to my head, I’m saying it’s touching the line,” he said. The inning ended with Torres flying out to the warning track, keeping the game scoreless. Later in the game, with the Yanks down by two runs after Clarke Schmidt allowed a couple of runs in the fifth, another controversial call occurred. Aaron Judge, with Juan Soto on first, faced a full count against Royals pitcher Brady Singer. Judge appeared to check his swing on what was deemed a ball. But Kansas City catcher Salvador Perez successfully asked first base umpire Mark Carlson to check the call. And to Yanks’ dismay, Carlson ruled that Judge had gone around, ending the inning and preventing a potential rally.

Giancarlo Stanton Makes Firm Demand From Yankees

In a pivotal Game 3 of the ALDS, the New York Yankees edged past the Kansas City Royals with a 3-2 victory, largely thanks to Giancarlo Stanton’s stellar performance. Stanton contributed three of the team’s four hits, which included a crucial home run, two RBIs, and even a stolen base. After the game, Stanton called for the closing of the series.

“We need to wrap it up tomorrow. No wiggle room,” Giancarlo Stanton said as the New York Yankees now lead the series 2-1. Interestingly, they have a chance to eliminate the Royals in Game 4 itself on Wednesday, with ace Gerrit Cole set to take the mound for New York, while Kansas City counters with right-hander Michael Wacha.
