The doubts about Adrian Newe’s F1 future dissolved in September when he signed a deal with Aston Martin. After a long string of speculations, the popular car designer confirmed his arrival at Silverstone. However, it all started when the Briton drew the curtain on his Red Bull stint. After two decades of glory, the visionary executive left the setup. Although he is still working on an RB17 hypercar project,  he will soon move to the green outfit.

Surprisingly, Red Bull’s decline coincided with Newey’s departure announcement. Thus, whether or not the RBR management accepts it has significantly dented the setup. While internal turmoil is dubbed the top reason for Newey’s sudden exit, there is more to the story. Adrian Newey recently explained the real reason behind his Red Bull exit.

Adrian Newey, the legendary engineer behind some of Red Bull Racing’s greatest successes, has revealed that his involvement with the Formula 1 team has significantly decreased since the Suzuka Grand Prix earlier this year. Instead, Newey has been focusing his energy on developing the RB17 track car, a project that has become a personal passion for him. He shared that working on this car has reignited his creative spark, offering him a new and exciting challenge outside the world of F1.

The RB17, which debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, has allowed Newey to apply the engineering principles he honed in Formula 1 but in a completely different context. This shift in focus has been refreshing for Newey, who admitted that his work in F1 was beginning to feel routine, lacking the excitement and late-night bursts of inspiration that once drove him.

Newey explained that Red Bull has reached a point of maturity where the team can thrive without his constant input. He felt it was time to step back and allow his colleagues to prove they could succeed on their own while he pursued new challenges. Although his physical presence at Red Bull’s facilities will be reduced, Newey will still be involved remotely, particularly as the RB17 moves into its track-testing phase next summer. He will continue to collaborate with the team through video conferences and emails, offering his expertise when needed, but his primary focus will remain on this exciting new project.

“It Was A Wonderful Decision,” Angel Mansell Backs Newey’s Aston Martin Move

Nigel Mansell shared his thoughts on Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin, calling it a smart decision. Mansell believes that Newey’s choice to join Aston Martin was wise, as it allowed him to avoid the intense politics and pressure often associated with Ferrari. While Ferrari might regret not securing his talents, Mansell sees this as a win for Aston Martin, as Newey has the potential to significantly transform the team.

Mansell also expressed confidence that Aston Martin will become even more competitive next year, largely due to Newey’s influence. He sees Newey’s move as a pivotal moment for the team, with the potential to drive rapid improvement. Mansell pointed out that Red Bull, without Newey, has already begun to lose its dominance in the sport, suggesting that his departure has made a noticeable impact on the reigning champions’ performance. Mansell’s view is that Newey’s presence at Aston Martin could lead to some of his greatest successes in Formula 1.
