Sergio Perez had a lot of ups and downs in the current ongoing season. Initially, it seemed like the Mexican driver could go on to win the title. But clearly, it was easier said than done. Moreover, it is not easy to beat Max Verstappen when he is in such terrific form. In 2023, after the first four Grand Prix, Max won a couple as his teammate did too. But since the Miami Grand Prix, things went downhill for Checo. Moreover, the pressure was increasing as such that Red Bull was looking for Checo’s replacement. On top of that, Perez hired a mental coach to gain more confidence.

Since then, the Mexican driver has secured more podium finishes. Moreover, Perez ensured finishing second in the Driver’s Championship after the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It is Red Bull’s first one-two finish in the Driver’s Championship. Moreover, Checo is so happy that he looks forward to challenging his teammate again next year for the title. Perez had the same idea this year after he won in Jeddah. But it didn’t pan out the way he hoped it would.

Recently, in an interview with Motorsport-Total, Sergio Perez mentioned he wants to take a step further next season. He is glad that he got second place this year. Now, Checo is challenging Max that he aims to win the title next year. But Perez knows very well what the challenge represents. However, he has faith in his team. Hence, Checo said that if they can utilize the winter to its fullest then it is possible to reach a step further. Moreover, Perez wishes to carry on with the same momentum and level next year. However, fans did not take Checo’s comment likely. The fans are not too sure if the Mexican driver can actually beat the three-time champion in 2024.

No one else could beat him in the last three years. But Checo’s positive that he can. However, the fans had a good time mocking him on social media. There’s one fan who wrote that Checo’s delusion is on another level. That same fan pointed out to how hard it was for Sergio Perez to finish second this year. Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso, either was constantly at Checo’s tail. On the other hand, Max Verstappen alone helped Red Bull lead and win the constructor’s title. Similarly, there were more fans who trolled Perez on social media.

Max Verstappen Has Been Invincible In Recent Times

The Dutchman has won 18 races this season. Last year, Verstappen won 15 Grands Prix. He broke Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s most race wins in a season record. The previous best was 13, which belonged to Vettel and Schumacher, the two great Germans. Since last year, the most GP wins record belongs to Max Verstappen.

He just keeps breaking his own record. It is difficult for drivers in the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to keep up with the pace of Max Verstappen. However, Sergio Perez has been the only driver this season that seemed to challenge Verstappen for the title. Anyhow, the Dutchman emerged superior once again.
