Christian Horner Explains The Current Red Bull Situation Amid Team’s Need To Bring ‘More Performance’

RBR News

Christian Horner has assessed Red Bull’s current performance, noting that it is struggling with a narrower operational window compared to its competitors. He explained that while rival teams have cars with a more adaptable performance range, Red Bull’s car is very sensitive to temperature and other factors, which makes it challenging for both engineers and drivers.

Moreover, Horner emphasized the need to balance the car more to broaden its performance window. This adjustment is crucial because it affects the car’s ability to perform consistently across different conditions. Despite the challenges, the British executive is confident that the team is aware of these issues and is diligently working on solutions.

Looking ahead to the remaining ten races, Horner acknowledged that resolving these car issues will be tough. He mentioned that while there is still more performance to unlock, the car’s potential can be seen in past performances, such as securing pole position in Austria and narrowly missing it in Hungary. Max Verstappen has identified specific limitations with the car that need addressing, and Horner highlighted the importance of translating these performance issues into effective engineering and aerodynamic solutions.

Fred Vasseur Reflects On Reducing The Gap With Red Bull By ‘300 Percent’

Racing News365

At the start of the season, it seemed like Red Bull was on track to dominate and secure another championship. However, rival teams have since closed the gap. According to Fred Vasseur, there was a period early in the year, up until the Chinese Grand Prix, when Red Bull was performing exceptionally well. Following that, Vasseur’s team experienced a successful phase with two or three wins, and then McLaren took the spotlight, with Mercedes now emerging as a strong competitor.

Vasseur highlighted that the championship fight now involves four teams, a testament to his team’s significant improvements over the past year. He pointed out that it is unusual for four teams to be in contention for the championship after 12 or 13 races. His team has achieved notable progress, scoring approximately 60% more points than the previous year after the same number of races and reducing their gap to Red Bull by 300%.
