Sir Lewis Hamilton overcame all the odds to beat the reigning Red Bull champion on his way to winning the 2024 British Grand Prix. Every F1 fan knows how intense the rivalry between the seven-time champion and Max Verstappen has been since 2021. However, since 2022, the Dutch racer has been unstoppable, winning back-to-back titles and breaking several more records. Last year, he won an unbelievable number of 19 races out of 22. On the other hand, the great Briton had remained winless since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Never before in his career did Lewis Hamilton have a two or more years stretch of a winless streak.

There is a reason why he is the most decorated driver in the sport. No other racer has won 100 or more races than the Mercedes superstar. However, he had to wait almost three years to get to his 104th GP win. Finally, on his favourite track at Silverstone, Hamilton ended his win drought. Later, from several corners of the F1 world, Hamilton received congratulatory messages as he should. Moreover, even rival teams expressed praise for the seven-time champion.

The senior advisor of the Austrian outfit is not famous for heaping praises on rival teams. Lately, though, Helmut Marko could not stop himself from congratulating the 39-year-old superstar. Recently, in an interview with Sky Deutschland, the 81-year-old Red Bull advisor mentioned that one can only congratulate Lewis Hamilton. Moreover, Marko added, “What a master he is.” He said that the Mercedes superstar can read a race really well and challenge the tyres just the right amount so that they don’t collapse. Moreover, the Red Bull advisor said that only a master like Hamilton could hold up well on a dry track and manage the tyres so well. Marko said that it was visible to everyone that Hamilton’s tyres started to slightly grain a little.

It could have been an okay race for any other driver, but Hamilton is different. That’s why Helmut Marko believes that the Mercedes superstar did a great job and proved that he still has a lot of speed. Moreover, Marko says the experience of Hamilton is invaluable. Finally, the great Briton enjoyed a record-breaking ninth victory at Silverstone. He surpassed the German great Michael Schumacher for the most wins at a single GP. The next race in Hungary can be another record-breaking moment for Hamilton. That, too, is one of his favorite tracks.

During the final stint in the race at Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton said, “I was ready to give absolutely everything ‘right on the edge’, and full attack to keep the gap at around three seconds.” He explained how he kept Max Verstappen who was charging in during the final stint, at bay. In the post-race press conference, as per FIA.com, Lewis Hamilton mentioned that the tyres started to drop off a little during the final stint.

But he said the distance of the stint was just ‘perfect.’ Moreover, Hamilton said if they had more five laps to go then things could have turned differently. It could have been difficult to hold on to it. Anyway, the Mercedes superstar driver noted that he is grateful that “We were able to hold on to it.”
