The Red Bull team has been stuck with an unresponsive F1 car. While the team started the 2024 campaign with high heads, it all crashed down at the midpoint. The team seems vulnerable as the chasing packs have improved significantly. In contrast, Red Bull’s improvement graph is negative. Moreover, Sergio Perez’s recent slump has further aggravated the team’s tension.

However, former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher explained the real reason behind the team’s misery. The veteran racer highlighted the ongoing issues with the RB20, which have been troubling both drivers for some time. The recent team radio messages had been filled with outbursts by Verstappen as the car didn’t go well. Hence, Schumacher has pinpointed the real culprit behind the team’s setbacks.

Since the departure of Adrian Newey, the Red Bull team has been struggling. The veteran engineer helped the team win multiple world titles. Meanwhile, the Milton Keynes-based outfit was confident Newey’s successor, Pierre Wacche, would carry the momentum forward. However, Pierre Wache, the RBR technical chief, is struggling to fix the RB20’s issues. As a result, the team is on the verge of losing the car development battle to McLaren and Mercedes. Although the team brought a few updates to the Hungary GP, Verstappen discarded it by marking them as ‘not good enough.’

Therefore, Former F1 driver and current Sky pundit Ralf Schumacher discussed Red Bull’s recent struggles, attributing the issues to changes that began at the start of the season. He pointed out that a key team member left, and the successor has not yet been able to fill the gap effectively.

Schumacher noted that several aspects of the car have changed, making it harder to drive for both drivers, including Max Verstappen. He emphasized that Red Bull needs to address these problems, highlighting that the car’s current aerodynamics, particularly the wings, are not performing as well as they should. Schumacher stressed that the team must find solutions to improve the car’s performance and ease of handling.
