The New York Yankees have always known to be a ruthless team who showed no mercy towards the oppositions. Owing to this win or nothing mentality, the franchise won as many as 27th title. However, the wait for the 28th ring extended to 15 years, the franchise’s longest championship drought.

Many analyst built a narrative towards the current team, labelling them as soft. However, this year’s New York Yankees aim to rubbish that good boy image and the AL Division triumph was a perfect example of that ‘Evil Empire’ mindset. Can this new aggressive approach held Yanks cross the finish line?

Yankees Advance To ALCS With Ruthless ALDS Triumph

The New York Yankees are advancing in the playoffs, having eliminated the Kansas City Royals in the American League Division Series (ALDS) with a 3-1 victory in Game 4. This victory allows them to embrace their long-standing reputation as the “Evil Empire,” relishing their role as villains. Following the game, the Yanks celebrated in the Royals’ clubhouse, with Jazz Chisholm Jr., a recent trade acquisition from the Miami Marlins, becoming the focus of lighthearted ribbing from his teammates. Chisholm, who had playfully suggested that the Royals were “lucky” to win Game 2, was greeted with a chorus of boos and playful taunts from his fellow Yankees during the celebration. However, he embraced the camaraderie, declaring he felt like the “little brother” the team had always wanted.

Meanwhile, this Yankees squad, while still carrying the franchise’s storied history, has carved out its own identity, marked by a mix of talent and a more laid-back approach to its villainous image. Throughout the series, the team displayed strong performances, with Gerrit Cole leading the pitching staff. Gleyber Torres and Juan Soto set the tone early in Game 4, quickly taking a 1-0 lead. Judge, who had been quiet earlier in the series, made a significant impact with a crucial extra-base hit, contributing to a 3-0 lead. Tensions bubbled over in the sixth inning when a hard tag by Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe on Maikel Garcia resulted in a brief skirmish on the field. But ultimately, the Yanks’ee bullpen remained dominant throughout the series, not yielding an earned run. Now, the team seems poised to make a significant postseason run, drawing on their history while also embracing their current identity.

Jazz Chisholm Throws Shade At Garcia Over Game 4 Altercation

NY Post

Jazz Chisholm Jr. defended his Yankees teammate Anthony Volpe after a controversial slide by Maikel Garcia during the recent ALDS game against the Kansas City Royals. Chisholm felt that Garcia’s slide was an attempt to injure Volpe, calling him a “sore loser” for his behavior.

He also criticized Garcia for talking trash on social media while not respecting the game during play, asserting that he believes in competitive banter but would never resort to injuring an opponent just because he’s losing. Chisholm also reflected on the importance of sticking up for his teammates, stating, “We don’t do that on this side.”
