The New York Yankees have been on a roll this year. They have looked at times like “Unstoppable.” Moreover, they are dominating the American League East division as they have the best record in the league. If they win the first game in the next series against the Boston Red Sox, they will become the first team to win 50 games this season. That’s how good the Bronx Bombers have been in 2024. It has been great for the fans who have been waiting for a World Series success for a long time. The last time the Yankees won the “Big Dance” was in 2009. Since then, they have never made it to the World Series once.

Moreover, last season saw the NY side go through with their worst season in the last 30 years. However, in the ongoing season, things have looked completely different. Ever since Juan Soto, Alex Verdugo and Marcus Stroman joined the team, the Pinstripes looked like title contenders. They have been playing well and winning plenty of series. Lately, they won a series against the Kansas City Royals. Since they have been enjoying a winning atmosphere, the manager Aaron Boone started a Post-win tradition “With a personal touch.”

What’s The New Post-Win Tradition Of The Yankees?

Aaron Boone is not afraid to have a tired hand at the end of this season. Lately, The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty reported that the skipper started a new tradition this season. He will give the game ball after every win to a player he deems fit with a note inscribed to it. Kuty noted that the ball does not go to the Most Valued Player of the certain game. The MVPs generally get the championship belt from their teammates. Instead, the game ball goes to those names who are like the “Unsung heroes” in the lineup but had an essential role to play in the win. On Monday night, Aaron Boone gave the ball to Marcus Stroman.

Later, the starting pitcher shared a picture of the prize on his social media page. In that game, the Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2. Moreover, the note from Boone said, “Game Ball #48: Another Strong Tone-setter Six Shutty – Aaron Boone.” Later, The Athletic quoted Aaron Boone saying, “I always wanted to have a little personal touch.” Hence, Boone wanted to start a tradition like that. He added that it is important to have a personal connection with the players, and so far, it has been on a “Different level.”

The NY Side Will Play Against Their Arch-Rivals On Friday

At present, the Yankees are 49-22. They could have won their 50th game on Thursday. But the Kansas City Royals did not allow the Bronx Bombers to enjoy a complete sweep of the four-game series. Since Boone’s side lost the fourth game against the Royals, they will have to wait to win a game against their division rivals to get to 50.

On Friday, the three-game series between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox will start. The arch-rivals will face off at Fenway Park. Only time will say who will be the next lucky Yankees player to win the game ball from the manager.
