A rookie prospect starting pitcher who was recalled to adjust to the doubleheader was immediately sent down back to the minor league given a horrible outing, which also happened to be his first at Yankee Stadium.

Having said that, following the game, the pitcher was optioned back to the minor league as he found no space on the 26-man roster. He is still raw and needs refining. However, Yankees manager Aaron Boone expects him to succeed in the big leagues when his time eventually comes. “There’s a lot of good things to take away, but a lot of things to still build on,” Boone said. That being said, the three-game series against the Angels is tied 1-1 after an eventful doubleheader. The series finale will be held on Thursday as scheduled. Nestor Cortes, who’s not been in his best touch this season, is likely to start for the New York Yankees, barring any last-minute changes from skipper Boone.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels picked a leaf off the Blue Jays’ strategy book to intentionally walk New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge thrice in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Judge, who is currently in the form of his life, was disallowed an opportunity to take swings by Angels pitchers.
Amid criticism, Angels manager Ron Washington defended his team’s tactics by referring to Aaron Judge as a ‘bad boy.’ “I would be a fool to just let him beat up on us.
