Rosenthal realized it was not a brag. Instead, the official just tried to start a fascinating baseball conversation. As per The Athletic reporter, there is a lot of tough competition for the Judge-Soto duo. For instance, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Then, again from the Dodgers, there is the left-right duo of Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts again. From the Atlanta Braves, there was Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson in 2023. They were pretty good.
Anyway, Rosenthal used the Stathead tool of Baseball Reference to look at some of the greatest left-right combinations in MLB’s history. Talking about the best-hitting pair in the history of the game, there always comes the duo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. That pair led the NY side to a World Series championship in 1932. They combined for 75 home runs that season, along with 258 runs and 288 RBIs. The Ruth-Gehrig pair spearheaded the Yankees offense that averaged 6.42 runs per every outing. That NY side was the only franchise to score 1000 runs. It is incredibly difficult to top that. But can the Judge-Soto duo accomplish the impossible?
