In a media interview, Hamilton acknowledged a substantial improvement in his performance during the latest race, citing a remarkable increase from the previous Friday. He characterized the experience as “night and day” different, stating that while he and his team had issues with the car’s balance earlier in the weekend, the vehicle felt incredibly responsive and under control on race day. This increased control enabled him to seize the lead and draw away from the competitors, a thrill he had not had in years.

Further, Hamilton also expressed his unhappiness with Mercedes’ pit-stop tactics. He had argued for a one-stop plan but was called in for a second stop. This choice was excruciating for him because his teammate, George Russell, had successfully executed a one-stop strategy and originally clinched victory. The British great thought his tyres were still in good condition and that he was driving quicker, so the second pit stop seemed superfluous.
