The Mercedes team became the first F1 outfit to release an official book. “Inside Mercedes F1: Life In The Fast Lane Of F1″ was published last week. The book walks fans through the lives of everyone involved in an F1 team. The author, Matt Whyman, gave a rare glimpse of the fast-paced world of F1 after spending 18 months with the Silver Arrows. He talked to almost every team member, including Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes chief opened up about Hmilton’s Ferarri move. Some of his remarks about the decline of the seven-time world champion’s performance spurred controversy.

The Briton, aged 39, made a shocking revelation as he signed a contract with Scuderia. Hamilton wants to shoot his last shot at the record-breaking eighth world title with the Maranello squad. For a driver nearing his forties, a retirement plan is essential. Therefore, Briatore has opened up about his post-F1 plans during an interaction with Whyman.

Matt Whyman shared insights into a conversation he had with Lewis Hamilton about his move to Ferrari. When Whyman asked Hamilton directly about the decision, Hamilton explained that driving for Ferrari had always been a dream for him—a dream shared by most who grow up in the world of motor racing. He admitted he didn’t want to reach the end of his career with lingering questions about “what if” he had never driven for Ferrari.

Hamilton has a clear roadmap for his career, knowing exactly when he intends to retire. Reflecting on his journey with Mercedes, he acknowledged the significance of his achievements and the many races he’s won with the team. Yet, despite this successful chapter, he felt there was one experience missing. Hamilton didn’t want to look back someday with a sense of regret for not having fulfilled this long-held aspiration of racing for Ferrari.

Is 2025 The Final F1 Season For Hamilton?

PlanetF1

Lewis Hamilton recently shared his thoughts on the pressures and demands of his F1 career, admitting that there are days when the relentless schedule takes a toll. He explained that the season leaves little room for rest, with training and therapy sessions quickly resuming after the December break. While other sports may offer a more extended off-season, F1 drivers are back to full training by January, preparing for a new year that demands intense dedication and keeps them on the go from February through to December.

Despite these challenges, Hamilton has a long-term vision for himself, carefully planning how to balance his time between racing, brand collaborations, and new ventures he’s involved in. He emphasized his approach to “sequencing,” or organizing his career steps and partnerships to maintain his commitment to F1 without compromising on his other interests. For him, staying fully immersed and passionate about racing is essential. He feels that the moment he loses that passion and no longer feels “all in” will be the sign for him to step away from the sport. Hamilton hopes that day never comes, but he’s clear that he’ll recognize when it’s time to stop.
