Sir Lewis Hamilton has accomplished so much as a racing driver that made him an icon of the sport. In Formula 1, there is no other driver who’s more decorated than the great Briton as of yet. At 39, he is still dreaming of winning his coveted eighth world championship. That’s how passionate he still is about the sport. The Mercedes superstar still believes he can beat young stars like Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to get his coveted championship. But it won’t depend just on Hamilton, as he needs to drive the right car that will help him and his team to win more titles. Moreover, he won’t be part of Mercedes next year.

The most decorated driver will join the most successful F1 team of all time in 2025. A lot of fans, in fact, the whole F1 universe, are waiting for that moment when Lewis Hamilton wears the iconic ‘Red Uniform.’ But it will be an emotional end to the Mercedes-Hamilton collaboration that dominated the whole turbo-hybrid era. Lately, though, a former engineer of the Brackley team pointed at a negative characteristic of the seven-time champion. The engineer said, “Hamilton doesn’t drive 200% all the time.”

Recently, ex-engineer of the Silver Arrows, Philipp Brandle, told Motorsport-Total that whenever Lewis felt the car was not running well or something, he would let himself down a little. Moreover, when the seven-time champion feels like his chances of winning the race or the championship are slim, he stops putting in effort. At least, that’s what the former engineer of the German team felt and revealed in that interview with Motorsport-Total. Adding to that, Brandle mentioned, “It’s a real shame.” But then the ex-engineer also noted, “Whenever Hamilton would see even the slightest chance of doing something great with the car, he could drive at 200%.”

Later, in an interview with Sky Sports F1, Lewis Hamilton responded to the comments of Philipp Brandle. During the race weekend of the Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton said that he read someone saying that he does not drive at 200% when he feels the car is not right. However, the seven-time champion feels that he has always worked his butt off all year and gave his everything. But it seems, as Hamilton says, “It’s not good enough.” Moreover, the Mercedes superstar added that as the car progresses, he is more and more at one with it. The seven-time champion believes he eagerly waits like everyone else in the team to see the car at its best.

The Seven-Time Champion Ended His Almost 1000 Days Of Win-drought This Year

Early in 2024, Lewis Hamilton announced that he will be a Ferrari driver in 2025. But then, fans wondered if he would win another race with the Silver Arrows. After all, he was going through a winless phase since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. In the last season with Mercedes, the seven-time champion managed to end his win drought. He won the British Grand Prix this year and at his home circuit, ended the almost 1000 days of winless streak.

Right before the summer break, Lewis Hamilton became an in-form driver. After the more or less disappointing Canadian GP, Hamilton went to have four podium finishes. Two of them ended up as victories. In the next Italian GP at Monza, Hamilton will race in front of the Tifosi again (2nd time) this year after announcing his 2025 Ferrari plan.
