Stephen Curry has been teammates with Kevin Durant in the past. Currently, they are teammates representing Team USA for the Paris Olympics. But they were teammates in the NBA when KD was part of the Golden State Warriors. Durant had a successful stint with the Dubs organization. He helped them win a couple of NBA Championships. Moreover, KD was also the recipient of the back-to-back Bill Russell Finals MVP Awards in 2017 and 2018. He helped them win against LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in those NBA Finals. It seemed like Durant could settle down in the Bay Area for the rest of his career.

However, things suddenly fell apart between the Golden State organization and KD. Then, the superstar forward decided to join the Brooklyn Nets. A few years later, he switched to the Phoneix Suns. However, since his GSW days, he has not been able to make the NBA Finals. Who knew Steph and Durant could team up again someday? Albeit it is not happening in the NBA, it is happening for Team USA.

Kevin Durant is the top scorer for Team USA in Olympic basketball history. He has already won three Gold Medals at the Summer Games in 2012, 2016 and then again in 2020. On the other hand, Stephen Curry has been absent from the Olympics for a long time. 2024 will mark his first year of Olympic appearance. And it might as well be his last, given he is 36 already. This year, Steph has joined the two other old horses – Kevin Durant and LeBron James in the team lineup for the 2024 Summer Games. It is going to be once in a lifetime opportunity for the modern generation of NBA fans to see the three superstars playing alongside each other. Lately, as per Olympics.com, Stephen Curry mentioned that he has been imagining almost “Forever” what that feels like. He added that it might be his first time, but he had seen the two other old horses doing it several times.

Curry mentioned, “Durant is doing it for the fourth time, as that’s the excitement for representing your country.” Adding to that, Curry noted that he and KD have been teammates who won at a high level. He also talked about having mutual respect for one another. Moreover, the three-point King said that it is also exciting to participate in the Opening Ceremony festivities. He also added that it feels unique to be part of the scene in Paris.

As per FIBA guidelines, the three-point line is 19 inches shorter than the normal NBA three-point range. Hence, it should be even easier for Stephen Curry to do what he does best: splash more long-range shots in the upcoming Summer Games. Recently, Steph said that there is indeed a relationship between him and the three-point line on basketball courts. Despite being familiar with these lines, he said it is a little bit different because the toe is generally on the line.

However, he thinks as a team, they are well past that now. He acknowledged Kevin Durant for being the top scorer in Olympics basketball history. Curry feels confident that together with KD, they can knock it down. Steph said, “KD is trying really competitively to get to his best self.”
