The New York Yankees had a sleepless night on Thursday despite taking on a series sweep victory against the Minnesota Twins. It’s because of generational star Juan Soto and his health. Soto exited the game after the rain delay, citing forearm discomfort, and the entire Yankees nation was up in flames.

While Juan Soto and manager Aaron Boone clarified that the early exit was a precautionary measure, the fans refused to buy it. Many speculated worst case scenario which is a prolonged IL stint. However, as a day passed and Soto went through imaging MRI tests, the fans breathed a sigh of relief.

On Thursday, the New York Yankees series sweep against the Minnesota Twins was overshadowed by Juan Soto’s early exit from the game. A sudden burst of rain delayed the game for an hour, and when the Yanks took the field after the resumption, Soto was scratched from the lineup. The team later confirmed that Juan Soto reported discomfort in his forearm and, hence, has been removed as a precautionary measure. A set of revelations further added to the fans’ concerns. Soto came out and said that he had been dealing with discomfort in his forearm for two weeks. And he chose to grind through it as it didn’t affect his baseball-related activities. However, when the pain reappeared on Thursday, the team chose not to push it.

That being said, Juan Soto went through MRI imaging scans on Friday and was scratched off from the starting lineup against LA Dodgers. Jon Heyman reported that the doctor’s initial assessment is inflammation and not any ligament damage. Hence, Soto is expected to be treated day-to-day and skip an IL stint. Soto will also not need any injections as meds are sufficient to treat the minimal inflammation. “In the grand scheme of things, we got some good news,” manager Aaron Boone said. While the Yankees are yet to consult a radiologist to be certain about the diagnosis, Juan Soto has most likely dodged a bullet. He sat out of the Dodgers game as a precaution. And also, Andy Martino claimed that if it wasn’t for the rain delay, Soto wouldn’t have been pulled from the series finale against the Twins.

For the first time this season, Juan Soto missed a game for the New York Yankees as he sat out of the series opener against the Dodgers due to forearm inflammation. Moreover, the Yanks 2-1 loss further added to Soto’s frustration. He admitted in a post-game interview that it was tough for him to watch the game from the bench and not be able to contribute.

But he also understands, that the time is sensitive for him and he needs to take precaution for a better future. Juan Soto added that MRI results were exactly what he was hoping for as he knew nothing major was going on with his forearm and elbow. Soto is still able to play baseball as usual. But, he will continue to be treated day-to-day.
