Yankees, Juan Soto, Aaron Judge

Juan Soto and Aaron Judge have been on a roller coaster ride this season. The New York Yankees added the Dominican superstar last offseason. They needed to sign a superstar lefty slugger who could fit alongside their captain. Moreover, the Yankee Stadium is perfect for the 2020 NL Batting Champion because of his hitting style. Clearly, this addition has been paying the dividends for the Bronx Bombers. Since the four-time Silver Slugger winner joined the 2022 AL MVP, the Pinstripes have become a solid offensive unit. This duo is responsible for making the NY side look like a contender this year.

Albeit a team like the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and, of course, the Unicorn, Shohei Ohtani, are clear favorites, the 27-time champions are not far behind. That’s because the Bronx Bombers have the three big power hitters – Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and, of course, the ‘Childish Bambino,’ Juan Soto. If these guys can stay healthy and play the whole season, including the playoffs, the Yankees are in for a treat. Both the Dodgers and the Bronx have the best pitchers, like Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LA) and Gerrit Cole (New York). But the Judge-Soto duo can make a real difference this year.

In August 2024, The Judge-Soto Duo Hit More Homers Than Six MLB Teams

Albeit, the month of August is not yet over, it can be fair to say that the Yankees duo has been dominating so far. Currently, Aaron Judge is at the top of the most home run list, with 48. On the other hand, Juan Soto is number five on that list. He has already hit his career-best 36 homers this season. There are still more than 30 games to go before the playoffs. Last year, Soto had hit 35 homers while playing for the San Diego Padres. Clearly, this year, the combination of Judge-Soto is working great for each other as well as the team. At present, Aaron Judge is on pace with a 60-homer season. If a little bit of luck works in his favor, then the Yankees captain can break his own American League HR record.

After 21 days in August, the Judge-Soto duo combines for 17 homers. There are so many hitters who does not even have that many homers over the full season. Clearly, that duo is on another level right now. But fun fact, in this current month, the power surge of the Judge-Soto duo has outperformed six MLB teams. For instance, the Colorado Rockies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Oakland Athletics, and Tampa Bay Rays have hit fewer homers this month than the lethal Yankees duo. Since this month is not over yet, and given the kind of form the Judge-Soto pair is in, they should add more to their HR list by the end of August.

Judge & Soto Ain’t Looking To Stop Their HR Show Anytime Soon

Juan Soto is about to finish the 2024 season with his best home run record. After getting to 36, he still has 35 more games to go where he can push his record higher. Currently, the Dominican slugger is on pace for 46. But it would not be shocking if Soto pushes for 50 homers at the end of this season. On the other hand, Aaron Judge might look to hit more than 62 home runs this year, surpassing his own tally in his MVP-winning season (2022).

In terms of wRC+, the Judge-Soto duo is dominating the MLB chart this year. While the Dominican slugger is at 191, the Yankees captain is at a monstrous 223. So far, they have combined for 83 home runs, and 16.8 fWAR in 2024. That’s the most by far between two sluggers this season. Due to their own individual statistical excellence, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto have propelled the Yankees as a World Series favorite.
