According to Greg Joyce of The New York Post, the team needed Torres and Trevino to do the small things before they had the ninth-inning rally. That’s what they did. Gleyber Torres got a leadoff single with Juan Soto due up fourth against the closer of the SF Giants, Camilo Doval. Later, catcher Jose Trevino busted down the line to save his team from a double play. He flipped the lineup over.
Eventually, the Yankees enjoyed a comeback 7-5 win at Oracle Park on Sunday. As per Joyce, Trevino said that he had to score all the way from the first in the fastest gear he had after Anthony Volpe got an RBI triple. Later, it was Juan Soto who put the Yankees ahead of the Giants with a two-run home run. In the post-game interview, Jose Trevino mentioned that he knows who is hitting behind him and how important it is for them to get to the plate. After the game on Sunday, Aaron Judge said in the post-game interview that sometimes things like that can “Get overlooked.”
Nevertheless, the players and the whole team know how important it is. Eventually, these little things lead to a big inning, said Judge. As a result, the Yankees enjoyed a three-game series sweep against the San Francisco Giants. Moreover, they solidified their top spot in the AL East even further.
