The New York Yankees have been on a roll since the Opening Day this year. Clearly, they have a team to watch out for. It has been over a couple of months in the 2024 regular season, and the Bronx Bombers currently have the best record in the league. They are leading the American League East division with an incredible 42-19 record. Unlike last year, the key players have been performing well so far and have been more or less healthy. Albeit, during spring training, Aaron Judge suffered an abs injury. He did miss several games in spring training. Then, he had a slow start to the regular season.

On the other hand, Gerrit Cole and DJ LeMahieu got hurt badly. As a result, they were on the 60-day Injured List. Lately, DJ LeMahieu has returned to the lineup. But the most impactful player has been Juan Soto. In fact, the pair of Soto and Judge is what made the offense really strong. But as Aaron Boone says that when players like Gleyber Torres keep going they increase the power of the depth in the batting order. That’s what happened on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants when Torres and catcher Jose Trevino sparked the Yankees comeback.

Juan Soto had a great game on Sunday against the Giants. However, the home team was enjoying a lead against the Yankees ahead of the ninth inning. According to Greg Joyce of The New York Post, the team needed Torres and Trevino to do the small things before they had the ninth-inning rally. That’s what they did. Gleyber Torres got a leadoff single with Juan Soto due up fourth against the closer of the SF Giants, Camilo Doval. Later, catcher Jose Trevino busted down the line to save his team from a double play. He flipped the lineup over.

Eventually, the Yankees enjoyed a comeback 7-5 win at Oracle Park on Sunday. As per Joyce, Trevino said that he had to score all the way from the first in the fastest gear he had after Anthony Volpe got an RBI triple. Later, it was Juan Soto who put the Yankees ahead of the Giants with a two-run home run. In the post-game interview, Jose Trevino mentioned that he knows who is hitting behind him and how important it is for them to get to the plate. Moreover, he mentioned that the credit goes to the effort and playing for each other in the clubhouse, “Plain and simple.”

According to The New York Post, Aaron Boone mentioned that when Gleyber Torres sparked the rally with a single, “You could feel in the dugout.” Later, Jose Trevino followed that up with a hustle to send the Bronx Bombers on their way. After the game on Sunday, Aaron Judge said in the post-game interview that sometimes things like that can “Get overlooked.”

Nevertheless, the players and the whole team know how important it is. Eventually, these little things lead to a big inning, said Judge. As a result, the Yankees enjoyed a three-game series sweep against the San Francisco Giants. Moreover, they solidified their top spot in the AL East even further.
