Aaron Judge is among the biggest names in the MLB right now. He is famous for his elite power-hitting abilities. Currently, he is the captain of the New York Yankees. Moreover, he won the American League Most Valued Player Award in 2022. That was the year when he broke the AL single-season home run record that had belonged to Roger Maris since 1961. He surpassed the former great of the Yankees as he hit 62 home runs in 2022. Eventually, he signed a nine-year contract extension with the Bronx Bombers worth $360 million. He was the biggest free agent in 2022.
Later, the NY side made him their franchise’s 16th captain. Many fans widely recognize Judge as the best player in the league right now. These fans love seeing the long home runs of the Yankees captain. But the California native is at present solely focused on helping the Pinstripes go deep into the playoffs this year. That’s why he didn’t participate in this year’s Home Run Derby. But lately, a former Oakland Athletics Slugger has challenged Judge for a Home Run contest.
Two-Time Former World Champion Challenge Aaron Judge For Home Run Contest
Aaron Judge is having another MVP-level season, but why did he not participate in the Home Run Derby? That’s something a lot of fans wonder. Recently, former MLB All-Star Jose Canseco said, “Judge’s scared.” The former A’s hitter has been a former rookie of the year and a two-time World Series winner. But Canseco retired from the league almost twenty years ago. Lately, in the first episode of his podcast, ‘Off My Chest Sports Show,’ the former MLB hitter challenged the New York Yankees captain for a home run duel. The Loopy Blogger and Canseco host the new show, where the former slugger mentioned in the inaugural episode, “Listen, Aaron Judge, I’m 60 years old. Can I hit a softball further than you hit a baseball? What do you think?”
Moreover, the 60-year-old two-time World Series winner added that Judge should not forget who he is and who he was. The 2022 AL MVP weighs 280 pounds and is 6’7. Jose Canseco challenges Judge, saying, “Do you think you can beat me?” In an Instagram post that says Canseco challenges Judge ‘again,’ the former slugger commented, “He’s scared.” Jose had a glittering stint with the Oakland A’s. He debuted for them in 1985. Back then, fans used to consider him one of the most feared hitters in the game. But later, in his post-retirement stage, he tainted his own legacy when he admitted to using PEDs.
Not The First Time Canseco Challenged The Yankees Captain
Lately, in the inaugural episode of ‘Off My Chest Sports Show,’ Jose Canseco challenged Aaron Judge claiming that he can hit a softball further than the Yankees captain can hit a baseball. But it is not the first time he challenged the California Native. In fact, when Judge broke the AL single-season Home Run Record back in 2022, Canseco wrote a bold statement on X, formerly called Twitter.

He wrote, “I’m getting ready for you, Aaron Judge. Let’s see if you can hit a baseball further than I hit a softball.” Jose Canseco always had an animosity for Yankees stars. For instance, he used to take jibes at Alex Rodriguez every now and then. Last time, at Rodriguez’s 49th birthday, Canseco took another jibe.
