Max Verstappen is on a whole other world of F1 racing as he goes on to win his ninth win in a row. He equaled former Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel’s record of winning nine Grand Prix in a row. Christian Horner must be really happy about that, as the record belongs to only the Red Bull drivers. On top of that, Red Bull is still unbeaten this season after thirteen races. It has been quite an outrageous hegemony of the Austrian team. The credit goes to the car designer, Adrian Newey, and the engine partner, Honda, for making RB19 the superior car to all.
Especially in the cost cap era, when most of the other teams have faced immense troubles to build a fast car. It seems like Red Bull’s domination is not going to end any soon. Moreover, the genius of Max Verstappen is too hard to beat. However, in the Dutch Grand Prix, things could have taken an ugly turn as Max Verstappen was unwilling to come for a pit stop. On Sunday, the weather conditions were worsening, but the Dutchman wanted to carry on with Slick tires. Later, Christian Horner explained what happened next to Channel 4.
Christian Horner Was Screaming At Max’s Engineer
The Red Bull boss mentioned that he screamed at Max’s engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, to pull the driver in for an early pit stop. Horner was screaming, “Get Him In, GP.” Moreover, the soft tires are less preferable in such ugly weather conditions. It was Christian Horner who prompted the change of tires at that point. However, Sergio Perez did not change his tires at that point. Speaking of Checo, the Red Bull boss mentioned it is a shame that he could not get a podium finish. Sergio Perez went off early in those conditions, in fact, at the first turn.
That’s when the Red Bull team gave the driver instructions to pit. However, Christian Horner fears that he was already surfing at that point due to heavy rain as he also clipped the pit entry, unfortunately. That triggered the breach of the speed at the pit lane. In the end, Max Verstappen went on to win his ninth win in a row and match Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull boss is over the moon to achieve this feat with Max after achieving the same with Vettel a decade ago.
Red Bull & Max Verstappen Are Enjoying Their Great Hegemony
The RB19 car is pretty unique, and nobody could even match their pace so far. McLaren’s Lando Norris came very close in the British Grand Prix. But Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes mentioned that W14’s pace was on par with RB19 at the Dutch Grand Prix last Sunday. However, the Brackley team complained that the catastrophically wrong weather forecast ruined their race at the Zandvoort track.
On the other hand, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was impressive as he gained a P2 finish. But Alpine’s Pierre Gasly shocked everybody as he was faster than Red Bull’s Sergio Perez. As Gasly got his first podium finish this season. However, Checo finished at P4. But Max Verstappen yet again won the Dutch Grand Prix at home. The Dutch fans were too happy to see the hometown driver win yet another Grand Prix.
