Aaron Judge tried his best to help the New York Yankees get a win against the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3. But unfortunately for the Bronx Bombers, they lost in an ugly fashion. In the three-game series, both these teams had won one each before meeting in the third game. Hence, Game 3 was the series decider. For a team like the Pinstripes, which is doing so well this season, fans expected them to win or at least show a good fight. But tell that to their division rivals, the Orioles. In the end, the O’s won 17-5. Clearly, the Yankees did not stand a chance against the quality Baltimore side.

Last year, this same team won the American League East division, whereas the Bombers finished fourth with an awful 82-80 record. But this year, it seems likely that the Yankees-Orioles rivalry will decide who wins the AL East. So far, the NY side is leading the division. But after this series win, the Orioles are not very far behind. This rivalry just keeps getting more intense. In 2024, so far, these two teams have met for a couple of series; the O’s have won both times. Before the regular season ends, they will meet two more times. Lately, Aaron Judge has given his view on the ongoing AL East rivalry.

Aaron Judge Excited About How The Yankees-Orioles Rivalry Is Shaping Up

JASON SZENES FOR THE NEW YORK POST

Despite the team lost in an ugly fashion, the AL 2022 MVP muscled out his 27th home run of 2024 in his first game since taking night off on Wednesday. Perhaps the team manager didn’t want to risk his injury after the first game against the Orioles. He got drilled in his hand, and the situation in the dugout got really tense. However, Judge’s 27th home run of the season was not enough to push the Yankees to get a win. The Baltimore side was way too good for them in Game 3. Anyhow, in the post-game interview, Aaron Judge seemed excited about the division rivalry that’s shaping up nicely. He mentioned that the Orioles are a good ball club. It was quite visible in 2023.

Moreover, Aaron Judge said they have some impressive young guys who like to play hard and play fast. Adding to that, the Yankees captain praised the pitching department of the O’s, saying, “They have some great arms, starters and bullpen.” He added that it is really fun competing against those guys. Finally, the Yankees captain noted that at the moment, “We have a half-game on them.” Moreover, Aaron Judge believes that the ongoing rivalry between the Bombers and the O’s will keep going back and forth until September ends. He seemed to be quite sure about that. The next two series that the Yanks and the O’s will play against each other before the regular season ends might determine who wins their division this year.

Before the regular season started, the Yankees lost DJ LeMahieu and Gerrit Cole for almost two months with severe injuries. Then, for quite some time in the regular season, there weren’t many injury issues for the NY side. Lately, it started again with Anthony Rizzo, the first baseman. He fell hard on his right hand on Sunday. Rizzo suffered a fractured radial neck in his right hand. Later, the Pinstripes put him on the Injured List. He won’t return for another six to eight weeks. Even Aaron Judge came very close to sustaining another severe injury. But he somehow escaped it.

Then, the latest name on the IL is Gleyber Torres. He left Game 3 early owing to tightness in his right groin. Moreover, not just in the major league, the Yankees are dealing with injury cases in the minor league as well. Their Top Prospect, Jasson Dominguez, suffered an oblique strain on his left side. According to Aaron Boone, ‘The Martian’ would stay out of game action for the next eight weeks. Clearly, this team would be a disaster if Aaron Judge suffered a significant injury.
