Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees and Bobby Witt Jr. , representing the Kansas City Royals are two modern-day superstars of baseball. But the California native is a lot more senior to the Royals slugger. Moreover, the 2024 MLB Home Run-leading hitter, so far, has been the heart of the NY side since his MLB debut back in 2017. On top of that, ‘Judgy’ made a lot of noise when he hit more than 50 home runs in his rookie season. He had the best rookie home run-record until Pete Alonso of the New York Mets went beyond the number of homers Judgy hit in 2017. Later, in 2022, Aaron Judge became a true superstar for the 27-time World Series champions.

He broke the American League Home Run record that belonged to Roger Maris for many years (61 HRs in 1961). The California native hit 62 homers in 2022. Eventually, he won the 2022 AL MVP award, beating his arch-rival Shohei Ohtani. Later, he signed a record-breaking (nine-year contract worth $360 million) extension for a free agent in 2022 with the NY side. On top of that, the Yankees made him their 16th captain of the franchise history. In 2024, the Yankees captain is again on the pace to hit over 60 homers and win the AL MVP. As a result, he keeps getting praises from his rivals as well as colleagues.

Bobby Witt Jr. Praises The Yankees Captain

There is a basic theory that game will respect game, especially in the Major League Baseball. Very few talents from the junior leagues and minor leagues actually make it to the big league. Then, to become a modern day superstar of the league that keeps evolving is no joke. In fact, it is a lot tougher than it looks. Hence, the elite players of the league generally have a lot of respect for each other. Moreover, it is the same case with the Kansas City Royals superstar, Bobby Witt Jr. and Aaron Judge. Bobby is only 24 years old and is already looking like a perfect candidate to become runners up in the 2024 AL MVP race.

The only reason why the Royals superstar may not win the 2024 AL MVP is the Yankees captain. Recently, in an interview with Jeff Passan of ESPN, Bobby Witt Jr mentioned, “Aaron Judge is very consistent and that’s exactly the name of the game.” He said the key points are staying healthy, and on the field so that one can help the team. Witt Jr. added that Judge does exactly that and in the right way. Moreover, the Royals slugger feels the Yankees captain is not “Showboating out there as he is a big dude, and he can do anything he likes.” Finally, the KC superstar called the 2022 AL MVP the “King of New York.”

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Yankees captain praised Witt Jr. for being a “Complete player.” Aaron Judge noticed that the KC shortstop can run, hit, field, and really do everything. Moreover, the California native said that even last year, Bobby showed his skills and talents. He had a great season in 2023 as well.

Nonetheless, Judge feels that Bobby keeps improving every game as per what he has seen so far. This year, the 32-year-old superstar (1.150 OPS) has a 147 lead over second-placed Juan Soto in terms of the best hitters. Bobby Witt Jr. and Shohei Ohtani (.992 OPS) are tied for third place on that list.
