As LeBron James puts it, Anthony Davis is the new face of the Los Angeles Lakers. It is true that the front office extended his contract to another three years, hoping he would take up more responsibilities. And he gladly did. AD is eager to contribute to the Laker’s quest for another title. Moreover, the eight-time All-Star had been the anchor of the Laker’s defense and the spearhead of their attack since the last season. He has been like a pillar for the Lakers lineup. But as long as Anthony Davis and LeBron James stay healthy, the Lakers have a chance to win more games.
The eight-time All-Star is making his presence felt in the league big time. Albeit, the team had been inconsistent, AD had a solid start to the 2023-24 season. He was a finalist for the Western Conference Player Of the Month (October/November). However, the PR department of the NBA announced Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets finally won that award. The two-time MVP helped the Nuggets maintain a 12-6 record in the current season. But no matter what others say, it is not hard to accept that Anthony Davis has been playing exceedingly well this season.
Anthony Davis Was A Finalist For The Player Of The Month Award In The Western Conference
After 20 games, AD averaged 22.9 points per game, 12.5 rebounds per contest, 3.3 assists, and 2.8 blocks along with 1.1 steals. Moreover, the 30-year-old superstar has played for 35 minutes per game. Clearly, Anthony Davis is working really hard on his craft. He is trying to improve his shooting. So far in the current season, AD shot 54.6% from the field. However, he has a lot of work to do on his three-point shooting.
He has not been very successful in shooting three-pointers and scoring from beyond the circle. However, what has improved in the last few games is AD’s free throw percentage. Moreover, the Lakers Faithful would like to see the eight-time All-Star perform even better in the last month of the year so that he is able to win the Player of the Month Award. Anyway, what matters most is Anthony Davis leading the side to more victories than losses.
AD Has Performed Well So Far This Season Without Any Serious Injury Scare
It is hard for the LA side to go very far without Anthony Davis in top form. But AD proves whenever he gets on the floor he’s among the best players in the league. However, what always acts as an obstacle for the eight-time All-Star is his fragile physique. He has never been able to play in more than 75 games in a season in his long career so far.
Currently, the new face of the LA side is playing in his tenth NBA season. More importantly for the Lakers, he is playing well and looks healthy. Along with LeBron James, AD has been able to win more games for his team than how many they lost so far this season. Currently, the Lakers are 12-9. Albeit, they have not been very consistent this season and faced a number of injury issues already.
