The New York Yankees were over the moon when they sealed a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians to take a 1-0 lead in the AL Championship series. However, captain Aaron Judge, whose postseason struggles began in the AL Division Series, extended further in ALCS game 1 as well.

His teammates on the other hand, Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto slammed a home run each to aid the offensive production. However, despite the inspiring victory, Aaron Judge’s flunk remains a talking points. With 6 more games left in the ALCS, the Yankees fans are worried about the prolonged slump and have begun raising questions.

Aaron Judge’s playoff struggles have become a growing concern for the New York Yankees despite the team’s success in the postseason so far. While Giancarlo Stanton continues to contribute with key home runs, Judge’s performance at the plate has been underwhelming. In Game 1 of the ALCS, the New York Yankees won 5-2 against the Cleveland Guardians, but captain Judge went hitless again, leaving him with just 2 hits in 15 at-bats so far this postseason. Despite his offensive woes, Judge made important contributions on defense, including two key running catches off liners from Jose Ramirez that had expected batting averages of over .500. He also walked and scored in the third inning and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

However, Aaron Judge’s lack of consistency at the plate is noticeable. He has now gone 3-for-31 over his last nine postseason games without a home run, which has caused concern, especially given his pivotal role in the New York Yankees’ lineup. Notably, Judge’s postseason struggles aren’t new, but his defensive efforts and leadership on the field are still significant for the team. However, for the Yanks to maintain their push for the World Series, a resurgence from their MVP-caliber star at the plate could be essential. Fans are hopeful that, like in the regular season, Aaron Judge can snap out of his slump and deliver in the high-pressure moments of October baseball. Ultimately, the Bronx Bombers will need Judge to step up offensively in the coming games of the ALCS and World Series, especially as they face tougher competition in Cleveland Guardians.

Juan Soto Backs Struggling Yankees Captain

Juan Soto has thrown his support behind Yankees captain Aaron Judge during the latter’s postseason slump, stating the importance of a collective effort in their World Series pursuit. Despite Judge’s struggles at the plate, Soto remains confident in his teammate’s ability to bounce back. He also dismissed the notion that Judge is feeling any added pressure.

“Some days, you can’t find the hole. I think he’s gonna be fine. It’s a team effort at the end of the day,” Juan Soto said after hitting a home run in Game 1 of the ALCS. Besides, Soto also highlighted that the New York Yankees cannot rely solely on Judge to carry the team. He stressed that it would take contributions from everyone in the lineup to succeed in their World Series campaign.
