New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge hasn’t been able to stay off the headlines this season. Anything Judge does becomes news these days, and his ill-form makes even more fuss than previously anticipated. However, on Saturday, Judge grabbed the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

In his nine-year-old MLB career, Aaron Judge was ejected for the first time after a mild showdown with plate umpire Ryan Blakney. It was deemed a soft ejection given Judge’s far less aggressive attitude. Regardless, the captain was able to move on quickly as he smoked a home run on the very next day to redeem himself.

The New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge found himself at the center of controversy after being ejected from a game, only to respond in the most emphatic fashion possible: by slugging a home run in his very next first at-bat. The incident unfolded during the tense game between the Yankees and Tigers. Judge protested for a strike call with plate umpire Ryan Blakney in the most subtle manner. However, the slugger’s choice of words hurt the umpire’s ego as he tossed the captain in front of a packed Yankee crowd. Judge immediately circled back to have a face-off before manager Aaron Boone rushed into the middle to separate the altercation. Regardless, Judge redeemed himself less than 24 hours later in the series finale.

In his very first at-bat against the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge slammed a 399-foot home run-off pitcher Tarik Skubal. Judge was pumped and rounded bases whilst thanking the crowd for its support. Moreover, the captain’s solo shot helped the Yankees attain an early lead into the 5-2 win, which was cut short by a rain delay. Nevertheless, all things ended well for Aaron Judge as well as the New York Yankees as they registered their first home series sweep of the season. After a tough road trip against the Baltimore Orioles, the Bronx Bombers have been sensational at home. And yet, their best seems yet to come. As far as Judge is concerned, he also brushed off concerns surrounding his form to record an eventful series. His average has improved slightly. But the former MVP still has a long way to go.

Yankees Defend Judge After Controversial Ejection

The Aaron Judge ejection on Saturday caused a massive uproar as the call was soft given the slugger’s less animated protest against a strike call. Yankees manager Aaron Boone jumped in the captain’s defense saying how Judge is always quite and respectful. Furthermore, Anthony Rizzo also raised a point that Judge was far away from the line of disrepsect.

Anthony Rizzo further explained that umpires have all the right to toss a player or a coach if he gets animated and aggressive while protesting for a dubious call. However, from what he saw on Saturday, Aaron Judge was not even near the line. And he surely considers it the softest ejection of all time in MLB.
