Dutch driver Max Verstappen has once again brought back the glory days of Red Bull again. The Austrian team used to rule from 2010 to 2013, with Sebastian Vettel steering the wheel. But they lost their way when Mercedes started dominating the turbo-hybrid era for seven long years. From 2014 to 2021, the Silver Arrows won back-to-back constructor titles.

But Red Bull embarked on their journey of redemption once again when Max Verstappen won the 2021 Driver’s World Championship. It marked the change of power or domination on the grid, and Red Bull reached the top again from last season. And looks like the current double-time champion is on a roll. He helped Red Bull get to its 100 race wins and Adrian Newey to his 200th race win in the Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen has also surpassed the winning tally of the Brazilian great Ayrton Senna. However, F1 pundit credits another element for Red Bull’s domination and not the Dutchman.

Former Red Bull Driver Credits Adrian Newey For The Team’s Success

Apparently, Mark Webber, Ex-Red Bull driver, believes Adrian Newey is the main reason for Red Bull’s success. While appearing on the television coverage on ITV of the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, Mark Webber says that if Newey was not around, the F1 competition would be much tighter. According to Webber, Verstappen’s skill and Newey’s technical genius are a powerful combination. They are unstoppable together. It is because of Newey and Verstappen duo that Red Bull currently has a 208-point lead over their rivals Mercedes.

The 2023 season has not yet reached its halfway point yet. But Mark Webber knows the value of Adrian Newey in the team. He was part of Red Bull from 2007 to 2013, winning nine Grands Prix. Moreover, Webber played a crucial role in helping Red Bull win four constructor titles back to back from 2010 to 2013. Mark Webber has a good reason, as Newey has 200 race wins with his designed cars. But Adrian Newey suggests that he is at the twilight of his career. However, the RB19 car that he designed is the fastest and superior to all other F1 cars at present.

Max Verstappen Is Unstoppable Since Last Year

Red Bull won 17 races last year. But it was not possible without Max Verstappen, who alone won 15 races. The Dutchman broke the records of two German greats, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. These two Germans hold the record of 13 wins a season. But Max Verstappen became the new record holder for most wins a season. Moreover, it looks like the current double-time champion is on a mission to break his previous year’s record.

After ten races in 2023, he has already won eight. There are almost 12 races to go. But as it seems, Red Bull is giving no chance to any other team to win a race this season. Hence, there is a possibility that the Milton Keynes team may win the remaining races as well. Moreover, Max Verstappen is on a six-race-winning streak. He might make it seven in a row in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Then it will take his tally for 2023 to nine race wins.
