Chase Elliot Could Become The First Driver To Win Three NASCAR Cup Series Races This Season With A Win At Road America!

Chase Elliot

Chase Elliot became the fifth driver to win two races in the NASCAR Cup Series 2022 after a breathtaking win last Sunday at the Nashville Superspeedway. NASCAR will now move to Road America this Sunday to celebrate Independence Day in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Moreover, Elliot will have an opportunity to be the first driver with three race wins this season if he secures a victory at the Kwik Trip 250 on June 3.

The no. 9 Hendricks drivers will come to Road America as the defending champion after Nascar Cup returned to the race course for the first time since 1956. Chase became only the second diver in the Cup Series history to win at Road America after Hall of Famer won the first race in 1956.

Further, Chase Elliot has claimed seven of his 15 Cup Series wins on race courses, with two wins each at the Watkins Glens and the Charlotte Roval. In addition, the 26-year-old has won a race each at the Daytona Road Course, Circuit of America, and Road America. A race win at the upcoming event will take Elliot to second-most wins in the Cup Series history, along with Tony Stewart. In addition, Jeff Gordon has the most (9) victories on a tricky Road America circuit. The road course is 4.048 miles long with 14 challenging turns.

Talking about the challenge posed by 14 distinct corners, braking zones were the first thing that came to the mind of Elliot\’s crew chief, Alan Gustafson. The crew chief shared that drivers will have to be good in some of the big braking zones, which are quite tough. Moreover, he said the cars need to be able to change directions well and have stability as well.

Further, Alan pointed out that drivers cannot swing the back to change directions with so many things to manage. Gustafson also referred to the course intricacies that the drivers will need to prepare for. There are a few 90-degree corners, the carousel, the kink, and a high-speed left corner. He added, \”there are so many styles of corners that make it harder.\”

Thus, if Elliot has to win his third race of the season, he will have to beat 12 other drivers. The elite list, includes Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, and Kyle Larson.
