Franchy Cordero, the Dominican outfielder, has been the find of the season for the New York Yankees this year.

The New York Yankees suffered concerning outfield crisis after Harrison Bader entered the IL for an indefinite period due to an oblique strain. With a limited stack of outfielders in the bullpen, the Bombers needed a backup just in case the regulars faced a setback or a slump in form. Hence, the front office wandered into the free agency market and signed Francy Cordero in a split contract.

Franchy Cordero had a stellar spring session with the Baltimore Orioles. However, in a surprising turn of events, the Orioles released him just a week before the opening day. On the other hand, the Yankees, who apparently monitored Cordero’s progress through the Grapefruit League, pounced on the opportunity and offered him a split contract. Little did anyone know that this last-minute insurance acquisition would turn into a match-winner for the Bombers in just two weeks.

The New York Yankees fielded Franchy Cordero against his ex-team Baltimore Orioles, in the first series on the road trip. Franchy got his sweet revenge as he belted two homers in two games against the Orioles. There was no stopping thereafter. His two huge homers landed him more starting opportunities. And Cordero did not let it slide and followed up his home run tally by hitting two more runs in the remaining games of the road trip, including a 439-feet hit against the Guardians.

Franchy Cordero’s resurgence has impressed fans and critics alike. Jake Storiale, the host of the Talkin Yanks podcast, analyzed the outfielder’s performance and made bold predictions. He said he’d become a fan of Cordero’s swing, and his recent 439 feet homer has just raised the bar. Moreover, Jake says fans are worried that Francy’s term is going to end soon when the regular players return from the IL.

However, Jake remains rest assured that with this performance and consistency, the outfielder is not going anywhere anytime soon. He has the potential to become the regular starter in the lineup even after the key players return. Regardless, it remains to be seen how much faith the Yankees are willing to instill in Francy Cordero.

New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone heaped praises on the team’s latest hero Franchy Cordero. He said that when a talent like Franchy gets an opportunity at the highest level, these things ought to happen. Boone believes Cordero has enormous hitting ability, and it’s a treat to watch those towering homers from the dugout. He also added that the outfielder gelled in with the team pretty quickly, considering he just arrived in the bullpen a day before the opening day.

Overall, all things have worked together well for the Yankees. They have registered four series win so far. However, they slipped in the AL-East rankings after the recent 11-2 loss against the Minnesota Twins. Regardless, the season is 162 games long. The Bombers have enough time to reclaim their authority in the East division.
