Austin Reaves has had an inspirational journey so far in the NBA league. At first, nobody drafted him in 2021. Although later, he signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, despite Detroit Pistons showing interest in drafting him in the second round. Hence, Reaves has mentioned on many platforms that he prefers to be part of the Lakers Forever. He was also happy to sign that two-way deal with the 17-time champions. Even Anthony Davis and LeBron James advocated for him to the management to get him a break in the primary team.
Needless to say, Austin Reaves impressed the James-Davis duo in the minicamp in Las Vegas in 2021. That’s how he debuted in the NBA in the 2021-22 season. At present, the emerging superstar of the Lakers has started to train for his role as a shooting guard for the next season. Recently, he gained a lot more fame while he represented Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. And as per inside intel provided by Scoop B, a prominent Lakers teammate can’t wait to see Reaves back in the NBA for his next season.
Anonymous Lakers Teammate Is Eager To See AR In The Next NBA Season
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, an NBA writer and podcaster, mentioned an anonymous Lakers great who said he can’t wait to see AR in the next NBA season. The prominent Laker believes that Reaves is a freaking monster. He was busy playing in the World Cup while being the top scorer of the American team. Many fans counted him responsible for giving Team USA a genuine shot at winning the title. In the recent polls, the fans clearly expressed that they believe Austin Reaves is the best player in the team in the World Cup.

Despite that, Reaves could not help Team USA win a single medal. Team USA even lost the Bronze medal game. On the other hand, AR’s former teammate, Dennis Schroder, helped Team Germany win their maiden World Cup and himself won the MVP of the World Cup. It is quite ironic as even Austin Reaves had a chance to play for Team Germany prior to the World Cup. But he opted to play for Team USA and lost in the semis to the Germans, 111-113. But now fans are eagerly waiting to see the Arkansas native blow their minds in his third NBA season with the Lakers.
Austin Reaves Impressed Everybody Since His Debut In 2021
In the 2022-23 season, Austin Reaves caught everybody’s attention with his incredible basketball IQ and consistency. Even in the playoffs, he was impressive with his consistency. However, the Lakers could not win in the Western Conference Finals. But the rise of the new star in his sophomore year surprised everybody.
In the offseason, Austin Reaves was heading toward free agency. However, the Lakers made Reaves a restricted agent. Many experts believed that Reaves deserved a contract worth $90 million. However, the Lakers re-signed him for a $56 million contract over four years. It was far less than what he deserved. However, AR is happy to stay part of the franchise he loves so much. Since childhood, the Oklahoma Sooners kid has been a fan of the Lakers and Kobe Bryant.
