Ever since Adrian Newey announced his departure from Red Bull, fans have been waiting to see if he joins Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton. These two great shocking news came in 2024. First of all, the seven-time champion announcing his departure from Mercedes took everybody by surprise. It was the biggest shock in the modern-day F1. Then, it was quite evident that the reigning champions were going through a bit of an internal turmoil and power struggle. At first, a female employee of the Milton Keynes outfit accused the team principal of “Inappropriate behavior.” Then, things got messed up at Red Bull when Jos Verstappen said Christian Horner would tear the team apart.

Amidst this chaos, the mastermind behind the superior RB19 car, Adrian Newey, said it was time for him to look for a fresh start. As a result, the chief technology officer of the RBR team announced his departure. Then, a rumor came to light that Newey wanted to work alongside Lewis Hamilton and that his dream was to work for Ferrari someday. Hence, speculations rose that Newey will join the Prancing Horse next year. But lately, Aston Martin announced that they have signed the famous F1 car designer. It was a disappointing news for Hamilton and Ferrari fans. Moreover, some fans claimed that Newey made a disrespectful remark about Hamilton recently. Adrian’s wife denied that claim.

After Aston Martin’s announcement, Adrian Newey gave an interview on YouTube to the High-Performance Podcast, where he talked about his epic Red Bull journey. During that interview, he also touched upon the controversial topic of the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. Adrian Newey tried to see it from the Mercedes and Hamilton’s point of view, saying, “I can’t go all downbeat and miserable back into the factory.” He said it is a part of his job to play the role of the motivator who does not just say, “Oh, we got robbed, it was just so unfair.” After all, the design chief believes all that does not really help.

Anyway, after this interview, a fan wrote on X (previously called Twitter), “That’s shameful. Newey disrespected Hamilton with his comment to Jake Humphries.” This comment of a fan did not sit well with the wife of Red Bull’s chief technology officer. Amanda Newey wrote back, “No, he did not. Adrian has a great deal of respect for Hamilton.” Moreover, the past interviews suggest Amanda Newey is right as the design chief has often praised Lewis Hamilton for his unbelievable achievements in the sport. On top of that, he has also expressed his desire to work with the great Briton someday.

He said that after he decided to depart from Red Bull, he was looking at the Prancing Horse as a team where he can continue his F1 journey.

Newey said, “After a couple of months, I decided to stay in F1, and Ferrari was a consideration.” Moreover, the design chief said that there is no secret to his desire of working with both “Fernando and Lewis.” But the fact is that both these champion drivers are in two different teams.
