The New York Yankees are in the most crucial stage of the season. But the team is unable to leave behind the constant injury concerns. On Tuesday, one of the important players of the Yankees\’ setup, Aaron Hicks, suffered a serious knee injury which ended his dream to contribute to the team in their important season in the middle.
Aaron Hicks Suffers Knee Injury!
In the end, New York won Game 5 of the ALDS against the Guardians to proceed to the Championship Series, where they would take on the Astros. It is a quick turnaround for them as the ALCS has begun in Houston on Wednesday night following New York\’s victory on Tuesday in the Bronx. Although the Bombers had to suffice with a sore loss of 4-2 against the Astros. However, in Tuesday night\’s Game 5 of the American League Division Series, Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks hurt his left knee. He won\’t be able to play again until the ALCS because of this for the remainder of the postseason.
In the third inning, while attempting to catch a pop ball in shallow left field. Aaron Hicks collided with shortstop Oswaldo Cabrera and was forced to leave the game. Following an MRI, Hicks discovered that his season was gone and he would be out for the next six weeks.
The outfielder talked to the press after the game about his injury. He mentions how disappointing for him not to be able to compete in the rest of the season. After all, this season was a special one for him. Hickes stated, \”Now I\’m no longer going to be able to play on the field to do my best. Sadly, I won\’t help this team win and win a World Series. Just gotta watch from the sideline.\”
Who Will Replace Hicks In The Yankees\’ Bullpen?
The Yankees defeated the Guardians on Tuesday in the pivotal Game 5 to progress to a matchup against the Houston Astros in the ALCS. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge both hit home runs in the victory. However, Aaron Hicks will be out for the remainder of the season. So now, the Yankees will need to find a substitute for Hicks on their ALCS roster going into the future.
The Yankees have not yet announced who would replace Hicks on the ALCS roster. But they are hopeful that dynamic infielder D.J. LeMahieu will be able to play again after suffering a right foot injury. Oswald Peraza, a shortstop who wasn\’t selected for New York\’s ALDS team, is one possibility.
Using Peraza at short and keeping Cabrera in left field, where he competed in the three games of the ALDS, would enable Boone and the coaching staff to win. Tim Locastro, who participated in 26 games of outfield action for the Yankees this year, is also a possibility. He has hit .186 this year. But his projections are primarily as a defensive substitute and pinch runner.
