It seems like an eternity since the Yankees fans last saw their captain, Aaron Judge, in action. The reigning AL-MVP last took the field on June 4, wherein he encountered a freak accident. The accident left a deep impact on his right toe ligament, which resulted in a month-long IL stint, which is still ongoing for that matter.

The New York Yankees have profoundly felt Aaron Judge’s presence. The offensive lackluster led to losses against the worst-performing team in MLB, the Athletics, and the Cardinals. With the season reaching its halfway stage, the fans are desperately awaiting their beloved Yankee’s return. However, Aaron Judge recently dropped a bombshell on his injury status, which has sent shockwaves around New York.

After over four weeks of rehab and medical treatment, Yankees captain Aaron Judge began playing catch and hitting off the tee last week. However, the significant pain and discomfort are still very much intact, which is keeping him from resuming field activities in the outfield. Amid these uncertainties, the captain has dropped a major, rather alarming, injury update which has shaken the fans to the core. Judge recently spoke to MLB.com and said that the doctors had advised him for surgery. But, he does not feel he is at that stage just yet, and hence it can wait. The Yankees star intends to postpone the surgical route for the off-season.

Aaron Judge clarified that the kind of toe injury he has sustained takes several years to heal fully. But the priority for him right now is to be able to run. Once he is able to run at his full potential, he can dream of a return. The batter doesn’t want to return half-healthy as it won’t help the team in a good way. While the surgery is out of the question, at least for this season, there is still no return timeline. Judge added that the doctors were throwing a lot of suggestions at him. Hence, he is not in a position to say anything concrete. But all in all, the Yankees captain expressed confidence in returning back to the field in pinstripes this season at any cost.

“It Doesn’t Feel Great,” Judge Gets Real On Health Status

Aaron Judge shook the fans when he claimed that the medical team was mulling surgery for his injured toe. However, he has clarified that he won’t opt for that route unless he feels it’s the need of the hour. Hence, the operation is unlikely to happen this year. Having said that, the slugger admitted to not feeling great health-wise with the toe. He confirmed making progress in the past week. But it’s still not good enough to aim for a return.

Judge doesn’t believe he will feel normal even if he recovers from injury. He said that such injuries take years to heal fully and can flare up at any given stage. But right now, the most challenging task for the reigning MVP is to be able to run seamlessly. It’s the key that will determine his return timeline. So once Judge is able to sprint back in the outfield, the fans can hope for a comeback.
