The New York Yankees locked horns with the Cleveland Guardians in an eventful last week. After messing up big time in the series opener, the Bronx Bombers somehow managed to salvage the situation and claimed a series win after losing three in a row. However, many controversial moments took place during the series, which caused a lot of stir on social media. One among them was the disengagement violation call.

The disengagement rule, which was introduced in 2016, is designed to prevent pitchers from faking a pitch without getting off from the rubber. But it has been criticized by some players and fans for being too subjective and difficult to enforce. Recently during a Yankees game, the umpires flagged a violation call over the same rule, which caused a massive debate on social media.

The New York Yankees stayed involved in a controversial incident during their recent game against the Cleveland Guardians that has sparked a huge debate on social media. The incident occurred in the eighth inning when Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber appeared to commit a disengagement violation while trying to block Yankees runner Anthony Volpe from stealing second base. The umpire immediately called Bieber for the violation, resulting in a brief argument between the pitcher and the umpire.

The call met with mixed reactions from fans and analysts alike, with some questioning the validity of the call and others defending the umpire’s decision. Despite the controversy, the Yankees went on to win the game 4-3. The incident has put the MLB authorities in the center as they continue to enforce a new set of rules and regulations every season. The idea behind it is to evolve the sport to make it more fun and interesting for the viewers. However, MLB has to ensure that these rules remain followed in the right sense and should not cause a disadvantage to any team on any given day.

The New York Yankees took a much-needed off day after the series won against the Cleveland Guardians and returned on Friday to face the mighty Tampa Bay Rays. Despite a hard fight, the Bombers suffered a 4-5 defeat. The matchup remained tied at 4-4 until the top of the sixth inning when the Rays took the lead on a single run in the seventh. A fielding error from outfielder Jake Bauers helped the Rays score the tiebreaker.

Yankees starting pitcher Jhony Brito took the loss, giving up four costly earned runs on six hits and one walk in four innings. The loss dropped the Yankees to 17-16 on the season, while the Rays improved to 27-6. Bombers remain last on the East table momentarily, and losses like this would not help their cause. Regardless, the two teams will continue their series on Saturday at the Tropicana Field.
