The New York Yankees’ change of approach from this disastrous season to the next one in 2024 is out in the open. The team has seemingly given up hope on any chances of revival this year. Thus, the raking prospects leveled up into the big leagues last month. Having said that, the Yanks have also begun chalking up plans for the upcoming free agency.

Earlier this month, the Yankees were linked to Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson. While the OF had an average offensive season in 2023, his potential and young age are something the Yanks will be banking on. Having said that, the team seems to be extending the boundaries for exploration. Recently, Brian Cashman, the very own general manager of the franchise himself, was seen scouting a player.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, a 25-year-old right-handed pitcher, recently pitched a no-hitter for the Orix Buffaloes. It was a rare achievement in the pitcher’s career, and apparently, he had a wide audience keeping a close eye on him. New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, along with his senior advisor Omar Minaya, were seated behind the home plate to watch Yamamoto up close. To those unversed, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is an ace pitcher playing in a Japanese baseball tournament. He is expected to hit the MLB market in the upcoming free agency. Moreover, the ace has managed to garner a lot of attention owing to his heroism in Japan.

If reports are to be believed, apart from the Yankees front office duo, around 15 MLB team representatives marked their attendance at Yamamoto’s no-hitter game. Further, Cashman applauded the pitcher’s performance but refused to reveal any future plans. Aaron Boone, the skipper, recently addressed the rumors and termed Yoshinobu a “decorated” pitcher. “I know he’s on a lot of people’s radar,” added Boone. Having said that, acquiring Yamamoto won’t be a cakewalk for the Yanks. The pitcher is projected to hit a multi-million dollar deal. If the Bombers are even remotely serious, they would be required to cash out a huge chunk for the pitcher. However, after how Carlos Rodon’s deal has fallen out, the Yanks will remain cautious.

Gleyber Torres Still Trying To Secure His Future With The Yankees!

Since the past couple of seasons, Yankees baseman Gleyber Torres has remained a constant subject of trade rumors. Amid these uncertainties, the baseman took his fate into his own hands. The 2023 season, which has remained a disaster for most of the Yankee players, is proving to be the best Torres has had in recent times. He has featured in 140 games, wherein he averaged .269 with 25 homers, 62 RBIs, and .801 OPS.

Gleyber Torres has been healthy throughout the season while being consistent at the plate at the same time. While the baseman’s defensive skills have come under scrutiny on multiple occasions, Torres still managed to have a better season than most of the high-performing veterans. Hence, the Yankees will face a dilemma while deciding on the future of the second baseman at the end of the year.
