The Raiders' hiring of Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy rules out the possibility of Justin Fields trade

Following stalled discussions with Kliff Kingsbury, the Las Vegas Raiders are set to appoint Luke Getsy as their next offensive coordinator, ruling out a potential trade for quarterback Justin Fields.

Getsy, formerly with the Bears, faced challenges maximizing Fields' potential, leading to his dismissal in January, creating friction between Fields and Getsy.

The hiring of Getsy suggests that if the Raiders opt for additional quarterback competition, a potential option, such as Fields, is now unlikely due to past conflicts.

Fields, despite having potential, struggled to establish himself as a franchise QB in three seasons, recording a 10-28 record and a below-average 82.9 passer rating.

Assuming the release of Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O'Connell is projected as the starting QB for the Raiders. While supported by star receiver Davante Adams, the team may seek additional competition.

With the 13th overall pick, the Raiders are in a deep QB class, and analyst Dane Brugler predicts they might select Michael Penix Jr. in the second round.

Securing the right QB in the draft could revitalize the Raiders' offense, complementing talents like Adams and Jakobi Meyers, who achieved a career-high eight receiving TDs last season.
